Alright, I recently ran into a problem. The other day at class I rolled with a guy that used to wrestle. He was madd quick and great a positioning, taking me down pretty quickly. Now I'm pretty comfortable on my back, and even when I'm in side control I don't panic, but against this guy I had nothing, couldn't create any room to get a knee in or anything, I was pinned down, and even though I didn't get submitted and he just stalled in side control, it was still annoying as hell. I'm looking for something to use when I get put in side control, and the guy sits out like a wrestler like he's going for a neck crank, or when he goes for the Scarf Hold. Thanks

basic side mount escape is when you put a forearm under his throat and hip then push away from him to create space, then slide your fit inside to recompose your guard.
you can also try bridging up in one explosive movement when he pins you and both of your arms are perpendicular to the direction he is facing. if he is using scarf hold(kesa getame) you can push his head up if he isn't already and sickle with your leg around his neck to hook him away from you prying yourself free.

Also you may want to widen your base and lower your center of gravity when facing wrestlers. This will give you a much more stable base to work from.

Rolling with spazzy wrestlers = taking alot of knees to the face and or other limbs.

This came out not too long ago, VERY helpful:

edit: shit haven't watched that in a while. too sloppy, i have to revamp.

mikey, in your first video, arent you basically feeding him the kneebar with your right leg?

i like the second videos escapes tho

ha .. I have been doing that twister set up for years now .. never seen anyone else use it .
Except I I don't use my hands to pull the leg down I can just reach

+1 on the second vid. I don't think the first one is legal for gi competition.

not at all, his far arm is completely trapped, and i have control of his head which doesn't allow him to even turn, let alone try to reach my leg. the kneebar can be a good counter to the twister, but in order to get it he'd have to slip free of my control. what it comes down to is who is better at grappling. this is actually one of my personal favorite techniques, and i've only been successfully countered with a kneebar like once or twice, and only by high level black belts that were way better than me.

and the twister is illegal in bjj, like i mentioned in the video.

it depends who i'm fighting. if the guy is a strong wrestler/judoka with a good scarf-hold then i have to grab. if he's sloppy like most bjj guys then it isn't necessary, especially if you're flexible with good dexterity..

This video is no longer available.

Which sucks because I was going to study it over the next couple months.

Edit: Nevermind it's back.

I don't know if you use it already, but with Firefox you can download the vid through an add-on called "DownloadHelper".

That looks pretty slick but nobody at my gym ever uses that form of side control for some reason.
