Erik Silva officially downgraded to Former Prospect :(

This meme is as played out as the Carwin "cutting height" jokes. Hope this will help put an end to it, but I doubt it.

.... legit question, where and why did this meme come from???

The UFC is just going to let all that talent and potential leave?

<Dylan>

Probably figured it's best for his development time hit the regional scene and then come back when he's got a bit more experience.

I was hoping for Silva vs Platinum... One for the 2020 WW title I guess.

War The Indian of Love.

He is just a late bloomer....give the kid some time to develop.

Progression is only linear in video games. It's a matter of when not if he breaks out

Kids only 19

Gotta have some patience

We still believe in you Erick. You will be an awesome fighter when you grow up, never give up kid. Never give up!!!!

He should get some wins in the minor leagues then come back when he has devolved his skills. He's got plenty of time to improve.

as a free agent now bellator has a chance to snag one of the top prospects in the game

Duno man. Erick Silva came on the scene a few years back and was being touted as this up an comer, which I bought into, and then you watch tale of the tape and it says he’s like 29 years old but looks about 18... it’s a reaction most people feel until you hear about the meme

I think the fact that he faked a glove touch that one time and threw a punch made it okay for everyone to make fun at him.

Yeah that was a bitch move glad he got finished later.

Erik entered the UFC with a ton of hype. The commentators were always talking about how young he is and how he's the future. When he started lossing -- they started saying that's he's still a young kid and has a ton of potential ahead of him.

The thing is... when he lost to Fitch. That was still believable. But when he kept lossing -- the UFC hype-machine still keept going and going with the "young and ultra-potential" narrative. When it become evident that he was no longer young and that he was no longer the future... people just ran with it and made it into a joke, considering how heavily the UFC had been promoting that angle.
