What do you guys think? Thatch is on a 3 fight losing streak including a loss to a grossly undersized benson henderson while erick silva has been getring is ass handed to him left and right as of late.

I feel like if this match up happened 2 years ago, it'd be a very intriguing bout. Now it has the potential to be exciting but someones gotta go.

That would be an epic level of disappointment that no one could ever be prepared for.

How bout they both leave town and save us the eye strain of watching them fight?

At this point I think both are better off sharpening their skills elsewhere. There's something to be said for over exposing an athlete to something he isn't ready for. And I don't believe either is ready to stake their claim in the ufc landscape. Not yet anyways. It can ruin an athlete when over exposed when not ready. Happens in pro sports all the time. They're not 'young' but they still have time to sharpen their games if they take a step back and re gather themselves. I fear if they try and stick around as is, that they'll just be swallowed up by their division.

I admit that I believed, at different points, that each of them would be a legitimate contenders.

I agree, they should get on some smaller shows & refine their skills. They both have serious skills, but it's going to be hard to gain confidence if your getting KO'd & choked out every other fight.

I remember a thread that said "who was least likely to mount a run at the title again: Arlovski or Shogun" Arlovski almost did. Johnson beating Gustaffson & fighting for the LHW title after losing to Josh Koscheck.

really sad that its got to this =(

both have a real risk of getting cut right now but I agree on this matchup and agree on loser leaves town. hopefully thatch finishes silva brutally lol

but thatchs groundgame is so suspect though IDK

Thatch might already be on his way out, he got choked 3 times in a row.

Silva has back-to-back losses but at least one is a split decision against Magny.

Id like to see thatch get one more. He definitely needs to fix the holes in his game, but theres no shame in getting subbed by benson and gunnar. I need to rewatch the Siyar fight, but I thought Thatch would have pulled that one off. Tough call on giving him 1 more or not. If he takes the time to round off his game, I believe he could be very successful. He's young enough to pull it together, but it's going to take some serious dedication.

A few years ago people were saying these two could be fighting each other for a title. Now they could be potentially be fighting eachother to stay in the UFC. Crazy.

I'm all for this, would be a really exciting fight.

I know a lot of bettors must really hate Thatch.

Honestly, people talk about Silva like post-usada he's a different fighter - But he's just fighting better competition and has never been able to take punishment well. If you gave him the guys he fought a couple of years back I'm pretty sure he'd beat them just as easily and look pretty much as good.

Anyhow, yeah that's a great fight to make ts.

Dunno about Silva, but so far it seems that Thatch's best win is Paulo Thiago...

And now he got completely grapplefucked by Bahadurzada out of all people.

So yep, he may be out.

How about just Erick leaves town? The UFC doesn't need under handed fighters like him.

Ah I remember when both of these guys were supposedly the future of the division.
