Quite a gap between terrorists and normal citizens, too. So that makes your comparison a tough one.

As mentioned, the terrorists (such as this professor) are wearing masks which is already an illegal act and proof they intend to damage people and property. Just let them know it's over. Going forward, we'll do what should have been done starting about a week after this nonsense started. You don't get to prevent the free speech of those you disagree with. You don't get to randomly attack innocent people. No matter what side of the aisle you reside on.

But in liberal areas, the law is applied with ideological glasses, and attacking Trump supporters or conservatives is permitted, essentially. It's a strange dynamic and one that will not end well for the terrorists when it ends. And it's time for it to end.

It would be one thing if a few idiots were breaking out of the crowd of peaceful ANTIFA demonstrators, but that isn't the case. This entire group's end game is terrorism. They need to be treated like terrorists. They need to be eradicated off the streets, before things escalate, and then we do have a police state, thanks to these fucking idiots.

That can fuck you up if you get hit in the right spot.

They're not even doing that though. These guys are given free reign to show up, and fuck shit up, even though they're wearing masks, and they've made their violent intentions are clear. I'm all for getting the riot squads out, and busting their asses. That isn't happening though. They've let it escalate to the point that citizens have started fighting back.

Forget the definition of terrorism. Do you at least agree that if you show up to these events wearing a mask, you should automatically be removed, or blocked from the event? I really don't care about how they are labeled. They just need to be stopped, period.

No, not in the context Phat was talking about. Now if there were a law against wearing masks in public in general*, then I'd say arrest them. And if they resist, then escalate force as necessary. Even now without that kind of law, if that means hitting a guy with a bean bag round so he can't roll a dumpster at someone, so be it.

That area needs more law enforcement though, and that's been the case for a long time - national news just didn't give a shit because there wasn't a political narrative. A lot of areas, including Oakland, are understaffed and it's not going to get any better as rent keeps increasing. Not only is the cost of living driving away essential service providers (police, teachers, firemen), but it's also causing civil unrest. There are people who have jobs that live in the underpass shanty-towns because they can't afford their rent anymore. The problem in that area in particular (which is only a few miles removed from Berkeley) is a lot more complicated than what the media shows.




* On it's face I'm not opposed to that kind of law, but one problem with a law like "no masks in public" is that people should be allowed to wear respirators outside in urban areas with excessive pollution. LA looks like cancer floating in the air when you fly in.
