Crime Eric Clanton, Antifa "Professor Bike Lock" Attacker Arrested!

That doesn't make any of the other evidence less valid.

It demonstrates the exact problem of mindlessly cut and pasting without verifying information. Which is exactly what happened in this case, on this very forum, as well as in the broader online media.
The difference between simply giving the relevant information to the victim or authorities, and bandwagoning on an online story for political capital without regard for the truth.

In an interesting turn of events, Antifa looked to have turned their back on this guy:

They're even editing old tweets pledging support for him to cover their asses:

Pretty funny shit.

Not sure if trolling or just retarded as usual

Did anyone else read this as Eric Clapton?

Charges would require more evidence than the shape of his nose and the appearance of his backpack straps.

lmao now I see why Ruprecht has been so butthurt this whole thread

This post didn't age well at all

Not really, they got more evidence. ...and it wasn't because of the resident mouth breathers cut and pasting bullshit about "14 locks ordered on Amazon".

So they would've got this guy if 4chan didn't intervene at all?

Seems the people actually investigating it turned out to be correct.

That someone threw a fake piece of evidence into the mix for whatever reason, is beside that and does not invalidate the former.

There is a point about questioning claims and trying to verify things though. There is no shortage of bad info floating around the internet on any given topic.

Maybe, but the effect of mindlessly cut and pasting bullshit accusations across the conservative blogosphere and social media certainly had nothing to do with it.
In fact, even though 4chan trolled him with that lock order, it wasn't them that distorted that story and spread it all over the net.
It was the brain dead cut and paste repeat stations, like we get here.

Sure man. Cops solve cases like this months after the fact all the time in America.

How's your war on gossip coming? How do you have time to chastise people when you're out there independently verifying everything you're told? Must be a bitch with something like all those health studies that contradict each other. I only get so far when scrutinizing them because I suck at science and have realized that sometimes you have to take what you hear at face value. But I'm a knuckledragger.

Actually it takes surprisingly little time to verify basic facts. Especially when it comes to social media rumours. It's not like they are fact heavy to start with...

I guess not gossiping was just the way I was brought up.

So you pick and choose what to verify like the rest of us? Good to know. :)

Not gossiping is a good trait. As for your quote, I'd take that to mean a knowingly false report. Which is of course scummy.

Apparently not like the rest of you, as it's patently clear how many people here do no fact checking what so ever. Especially when it comes to anything that supports their political opinion.
Spreading reports without regard for their truth is no better.

You're the mod bro. I'm just here to be entertained. Although I do try to check facts as needed since accuracy is a good thing. But sometimes it's just easier to say "I've heard x, y, z" or "X, y, z, is being said/reported". I'm comfortable with that.

I think your message would do better in the thread where you weren't wrong. Just my opinion though.

Wrong about what? Everything I've said was true.

Truth is objective, for someone who advocates people thinking for themselves, for example, by verifying anything they hear before posting you seemingly lack the ability to admit that your truth will not be everyones, which means you are objectively wrong and remain unable to admit it.

You don't like what /pol/ did? Fine. I did. I am not wrong and neither are you. We just view the subject differently. Coming here and posting:

Apparently not like the rest of you.

In replying about gossiping is yet another in a long line of examples of your psuedo-intellectual condescension towards other members. You follow on by stating:

it's patently clear how many people here do no fact checking what so ever. Especially when it comes to anything that supports their political opinion.

If you think that facts will change peoples opinions, it just exposes your lack of knowledge in the area or perhaps your naivete. Some people act like robots, where you input new data and they change their opinion accordingly, but we are human beings who have feelings, life experience, emotions, instincts and circumstance to consider when forming our opinion. Nowhere near as simple as a robot.

I'd be very curious to see how many of the myriad of posters replying to you in this thread mentioned anything about the 14 bike lock order as proof.

Wrong about what? Everything I've said was true.

You've typed nothing that could be construed as any of the following?

  • Scoff at the evidence presented
  • Express doubt the right guy was identified
  • Chastise those who thought the internet goofs were on the right trail
  • Impugn internet sleuthing

I'd be very curious to see how many of the myriad of posters replying to you in this thread mentioned anything about the 14 bike lock order as proof.

I definitely repeated that as something that if true would have been an amazing coincidence. Don't recall framing it in any way that suggested it was both a fact and proof he committed the crime.

I think at one point I offered Rupert a bet that the dude would get charged and don't recall him responding. So if he really thought this was a witch hunt his conviction on the matter was lacking. Or he likes betting as much as he likes gossiping. :D

I have never seen you in one of the liberal circle jerk threads telling people to not post unsubstantiated info.
I wonder why that is?
