What types of gassing and energy preservation examples you see in fights?

To start it off I will give example with Yoel Romero:
When he looks tired, it doesn't mean he is at the disadvantage, considering his opponents, too, are tired. He time and time again proved he is stronger and the more dominant athlete in the third, no matter if he decreases his output.

He paces himself very well, his whole style is to be loose and relaxed and then win exchanges in a very dominant fashion knowing he will be the one with more explosive power and speed. This dominance then effects opponents mentally and now they don't want to engage with Yoel, so he gets a little breather for himself and can continue in this fashion even in the third round, maybe where fighters fall into false sense of security seeing he is slowing down, try to engage him, then again losing, but now they are the ones sloppier, and Yoel outright finishes them in that exchange. Keendy and Souza believed they will lay on him the whole fight, and Machida believed he will outwork Romero on the feet, but they all did nothing after few attempts where they got to know Yoel's physical ability first hand.
 
You know what... I can't for the life of me figure out how a pro fighter does not have enough gas to go a minimum of 5 rounds. It's kinda their job.
 
When I eat beans, I suffer from more gassing.
 
Shogun seems to tire out but his desire never stops. Sometimes he even seems like his punches gain power and speed even when he's looked like he's gassed hard the previous round.

Is that rudimentary enough for you ? Because I'm in shape for my job, and the sports I participate in. And I don't get paid to be in shape for my sports. I kinda figure that's my responsibility. I don't just go on the first day of skydiving season, after 6 mos off, and just jump out of a fuckin plane. I value my health, and life more than that. I don't just go straight to the fucking mountains on the first day it's open. I take a cpl days to get my ski legs back on the local hills.

But, act like silly asses. I really don't give a fuck. But, don't expect me to respect someone that doesn't care enough to be a fucking pro.

Haha wow...I'm not saying fans can't have an opinion on fighters, but you should really consider your critisisme of a fighters condition, especially if you never ever tried it yourself. If you don't have any idea how it feels when wrestling starts to tire you out, or how adrenaline and getting kicked affects you, then you should wary of what you say :). But of course you are right, everybody should expect a fighter to be in great shape when they fight, which most fighters are.

Really? It is very, very dependent on the pacing of the fight. If the pace is slow to moderate then I 100% agree with you.

If there are periods of intense activity or guys eat heavy shots then they absolutely can gas long before the 5 rounds are up.

Let's say that you're in very good shape and can easily jog for an hour. Can you balls out sprint for even 5 minutes? Of course you can't. And that is the impact that the pace of a fight has on gas tank. The more you are sprinting the faster you gas. For fighters this would be heavy striking exchanges, dropping bombs trying to finish a hurt opponent or getting in very taxing grappling exchanges.

Statements like yours tell me you're new to fighting sports or a fairly casual fan.

Their job is to win the fight, not last 5 rounds.

It depends on your fighting style, if you are power heavy and do a lot of anaerobic movements then you aren't going to last as long. The higher the energy output, the shorter you do it for. Usain Bolt aint running a marathon competitively if his life depended on it.

Maybe because the fighter don't always get to set the pace of a fight? Maybe because there're trade-offs for increasing cardio training?

I hope your job doesn't require much thinking.

Not that easy to pace yourself. Way too many factors involved, including genetics, style, types of training suited to your body type, etc.

People bring up fighters like the Diaz brothers as an example, but the problem is their style of cardio training supports their physical style in the ring, accentuates their strengths and minimizes their flaws. They put most of their eggs into one "cardio basket" because they don't have the physical speed, athleticism or power other fighters do. So they train to grind you down.

If other fighters tried to train the exact same, they may negate some of their strengths in order to not run out of gas, but then give other fighters a window of opportunity, when they could've blasted them out early.

Agree their full time job is tuning and training their body's. I don't get it either they should be able to go 7 7 min rounds

its all about pace. no matter how great of shape you are if you sprint 100% you will start to fade fast after only 20 seconds. you will be fucking toast in less than 2 minutes. like a useless puddle of shit

a great example of a fighter pacing themself is lawler. watch lawler vs condit. lawlers output in rounds 4 and 5 is non existent. hes losing, and getting out worked. hes waiting and conserving for an opportunity to explode. one almost didnt come, but when lawler had the opportunity he had the power to hurt condit still and then enough in the tank to keep hitting him

lol you have no fucking clue how athleticism works. peoples speed and "explosiveness" is limited by their genetics. peoples endurance or cardio is limited by their genetics. you can work to improve both but you are limited

when you see lombard maul magny its not because they have different training methods. its because lombard is a different athlete with different skills and limitations. its the same thing over and over. the cardio guys are called slow starters but the truth is they have more of an endurance athleticism and potential. they will never match horsepower with a beast. and the beasts will never match cardio with guys like diaz bros, condit, magny, edgar, etc etc
