Tech End of Windows 10 Support - Do I really need a new computer?

no it's because computers are too complex for the programmers to fully understand them
I assumed Microsoft let too many fresh out of school rookies do things they weren't qualified for and unsupervised.

I assume AI will help reduce vulnerabilities.

Why isn't the US of A government protecting us from Microsoft's greed like Europe is protecting the Europeans?
Aren't the American consumer protection agencies being gutted by Trump? Apparently consumer protection is communism and socialism and the majority of Americans voters actually want less consumer protection for some reason.

No, they're too dumb or too occupied with expensive groceries and construction materials to think about it.

The local news has hospital workers on strike and saying they deserve more money for what they do, but I'm thinking so many here go to Vegas and blow away their money and put their money into some other state's economy, so where's the money to pay them to come from? CEO's aint taking a pay cut. They complain about cost of living, but they literally give their money to some other state.

Past two days I saw two diff articles saying you may be able to upgrade to Windows 11 even if not qualified, but you have to change some stuff in BIOS, maybe registry, and make sure CPU is compatible.

If I can identify my motherboard, is there a list of compatible CPU's to switch to?

I saw an article that said the October Windows 11 update has one that will make your USB mouse and keyboard not work in rescue mode. Lame. The article identified the KB number, but can you even pick and choose which ones to install anymore?

If your computer is not working right and you can't use mouse or keyboard, you might feel blind, deaf, and mute.

The fix was pushed out today

Finally installed the free upgrade on my gaming pc. Fingers crossed but nothing broken so far.

Interestingly it didn't prompt me to log into a microsoft account on first log in, like my work pc with a clean install of win11 did. I was ready to do the disconnect internet trick again so I could keep it local account only.

U have some options.

1. Keep running w10 as is with up to date firewall/av softwareand keep drivers up to date as much as possible and don't do shady things on your pc.
(Maybe in time some software will stop working if they stop support for w10).

2. upgrade to w11.

3. Try a Linux distro like Mint or Ubuntu. This can be a bit of a learning curve but will offer very good security and performance. Some apps and games may not work so smoothly (or at all) but this is limited.

4. You can look into installing w10 or w11 IoT ltsc version which are stripped down oem versions of Windows that will have security updates until 2032. Obtaining licence for these versions is hazy so be careful if you go this way.

All have pros and cons
