Not suspended but UFC have requested that he be part of the USADA program for four months prior to competing.

“As part of the athlete onboarding process, Emil Meek voluntarily disclosed medical treatment he received prior to signing with UFC that is potentially out of compliance with UFC’s Anti-Doping Policy. As a result, Meek will not compete in his previously scheduled bout on September 3, 2016 in Hamburg, Germany in order to allow him time to consult with his physician and evaluate his medical treatment.

“Given Meek’s medical treatment occurred before his signing with UFC, he is not subject to any potential anti-doping violations under the policy relating to that treatment. However, UFC is requiring Meek to be enrolled in USADA’s registered testing pool for a period of four months before he is placed on a fight card in the future.”

So basically hes admitted to a course of medical treatment prior to joining the UFC that would if he continued cause compliance issues

So hes on a four month testing phase before he can fight.

Note: As of last weeks update he has yet to be tested by USADA

I wonder what kind of treatment

:>

its described as medical, and they do say he needs to discuss with his physician "ongoing" treatment.

so looks like something for a medical need, but assumedly something that USADA wouldnt grant a tue for, which narrows it down a bit.

If i had to guess, I would say something related to injury recovery / injury management as they are the ones that generally wont get granted a tue as there are usually non-prohibited alternatives

Lol is there any precedent on this? Especially the 4-month timeframe? Seems like a public response to the Brock outcry while protecting a new signing.

That's actually the standard. They just gave Brock the exemption. And then clomephine happened.

Lol. A few of us knew the testing
was gonna be a point of contention
for this dude. At least he's admitting
it & trying his hand at cleaning out
his system first, but he likely reaped
some benefits from it...

I can only imagine he is consulting with this doctor:

His last fight was the first time I ever saw the guy and no joke I said to myself he's roided.

Serves him right for those illegal head shots on Paul Harris. He shouldn't even be in the ufc cause that win should be a no contest.

I might agree with you, except it was against Paul Harris.

That's called karma.

There's no such thing as an illegal shot when you're fighting Palhares.

there certainly seem to have been a fair few rumours flying about.

Seems like a prudent decision. Which is what I thought Anderson should have done. Retire, take whatever substances to heal your leg properly. Get straight for 4 months then fight.

Then there's the Lesnar debacle.

Wise decision all around. For the fighter, and the company.

The cockblocker agency at it again

Just let them blow wad for us, free the roidz
