Embarrassed you pushed the line that McG's dire grappling v Mendes was due to a leg injury?

So many McG diehards on here chose to omit entirely his cold hard grapplefucking by Chad Mendes from their post-189 posts - and once the inevitable & predictable injury news came out to explain away his frankly awful bottom-game and TDD, the hoardes descended back onto Sherdog to COMPLETELY write off ANY possible deficiency in McG's grappling.

Having seen McG fold like a deckchair as soon as the fight hit the mat vs Diaz, do you now accept that Conor has some work to do in order to become a competent grappler in the UFC?

Or is the ol' ACL to blame 100% all over again, and really Conor does have the "killer ground game" he has mentioned before??

I think your a moron to be honest.

His dire grappling isnt that bad.He has a good top game as evidenced by the brando, siver and holloway fight its not elite like someone like jacares but its not dire.

And the reason nate was able to pass so easily was he was hurt in the standup.Quickest way to make a blackbelt a white belt is to punch him in the face. And conor aint no black belt.

When it hit the mat in the first round, Conor came out on top. Now he's not a better grappler than Nate, but the end of the fight says nothing about his grappling. He was already done before he hit mat, and was desperate.

You can push whatever little narrative that makes you feel better though, hahahaha.

He's not a finisher from there or a submission threat, but his grappling is obviously good enough to keep the fight standing, and survive and get some ground and pound with a BJJ black belt like Diaz.

He came out on top with ineffectual GNP, he was lucky time expired.

why does anyone care what fans they dont like are thinking?

It's still bad. He got thrown around by a midget, and Mendes would have most likely won had he had a full camp.

His "i'm close to being KTFO" ground game does indeed need work. Great point. Have you thought about training?

You mean Chad Mendes that got KTFO in the first round by Frankie "Decision" Edgar his next fight?
Yeah he's one loss from being cut....

McG fans are in hardcore denial right now. Don't expect them to be rational. An apple hit them on the head, but don't expect them to discover gravity any time soon.

People are underestimating just how badly Conor was hurt before he took it to the ground.

I think anyone with a bit of common sense realized that McGregor's ground game needs to be improved. Injury or no injury, it was evident that he's not a grappling or BJJ wiz. With that being said, I don't think you can draw that many conclusions from the Diaz fight as McGregor was badly hurt and gassed.

Hmmm, I think I'll take Eddie Bravo's opinion of it more into consideration than someone on the interwebz.

Well he's already a a competent grappler, he's just not elite. If he wasn't competetent he wouldn't have nullified all of chads offense & gotten up as soon as Chad actually went for something & he wouldn't have swept nate in the first round. However it does need a lot of work, specifically his wrestling.

TS seems to have a lot of hate for Conor.
There is no doubt that Conor needs to work on his ground game.

I don't recall anyone saying that Conor was an elite wrestler or BJJ man.

He certainly isn't the worst guy on the ground, but he is far from the best and thus, he clearly has work to do.

Nah, mendes would have most likely been ko'd quicker if he had a full camp. I don't have any basis for that staement, but you don't have any for yours either so I figured it would be okay lol.

His wrestling is way worse than his BJJ. He trains with Gunnar, and like I said in another thread, his BJJ level from what I've seen is about no stripe or 1 stripe purple (by what is today called "competition standards").

His wrestling hardly exists. Even before that caricature of a shot which was really just him putting his hands on Diaz thighs and crumpling to his butt, he was single legged as well as bullied in the clinch and pressed to the fence in Rd 1 without any effort at all. By Nate Diaz no less.

So if anything, he needs to work on his wrestling more than on his BJJ, but nobody talks about that cause of Jiu Jitsu salesmen coming out of the woodworks on one side, and the clueless casuals who only understood that he got finished by a "BJJ move" on the other.

Sure he would have. Excepted your boy was getting tossed around and controlled by a guy who barely had anytime to train. Wait I've seen this before!

Competent? Abysmal. All of his losses from subs. Manhandled and controlled by 2 week camp Mendes, raped choked by no camp Diaz.
