Elizabeth Warren Releases DNA Test Showing "Strong Evidence" of Native American Ancestry

A Stanford geneticist who is an adviser to 23andMe, who produce mail order test kits. Which indicates his professional integrity may be somewhat...flexible.

The amount of DNA she can trace back to Native Americans is insignificant. According to the DNA test I took, I have 4.5% Norwegian DNA. That doesn't mean I'm going to change my name to Thorson Bloodaxe, build a long ship and spend my weekends and holidays raping, pillaging and burning small seaside villages.

Warren is as much a Native American as I am a Viking.
Not all mail-order test kits are shoddy. 23andMe is respectable . Being an adviser does not take away his professional integrity.

So she made millions without a degree in Eastern Europe?,(you know that place were communism destroyed the economy and starved people), Michelle got a degree that I doubt she paid for, then had a do nothing 6 figure job, designed for a senators wife, checking car seats at a childrens hospital. The position disappeared when Moochelle disappeared...
Melania earned millions of dollars as a legit model in the same universe where she deserved an Einstein visa. An alternative universe.

I'm pretty sure I'm 1/16th Asian and 1/24th black or something. I'm a minority right?

Jesus. If you said you were 1/24th black, and then a test showed that you're 1/24th black, that would support what you said.

Trump should take a test to show he is more Indian than her

Screw that, imagine if Trump finds out he's part African American. He could start calling himself the first black Republican president. Excuse me, the first "part" black Republican president.

Melania earned millions of dollars as a legit model in the same universe where she deserved an Einstein visa. An alternative universe.

dont hate, so you support very strict immigration policies?

Even the most liberal Native American tribal standards require a person to be at least 1/16th ancestry traced directly to their tribe. And that's controversial enough. Most require more. You are talking about casino owners with blond hair and blue eyes. To claim you are of Native American ancestry due to finding a geneticist to claim you have possibly 1/1024th indigenous ancestry not traced to any specific origin is a pure farce. Warren's claims in the past were fraud. And her stories about her family is nothing but lies.

I know someone who was told by his parents that he was part Swedish because they claimed his great-grandfather was Swedish. His parents believed it to be true and he believed it to be true. A few years back when his mom retired she started a detailed family history and discovered that the grandfather was a Dane and not Swede. Were his parents lying to him? Was he lying when he told others? Should he have automatically questioned his parents stories about his ancestry?

“Applying for a job as a Harvard professor, she claimed to be a Native American. Harvard eagerly accepted her claim— they could tick off two boxes to show diversity: female and minority.”

She never applied to a job at Harvard (they recruited her), and Harvard was unaware that she had any NA ancestry when she was hired. You're quoting an opinion piece that is making an objectively false factual claim. I'll be ignoring your posts from here.

You're not wrong about what you said, but note that she explicitly affirmed that from the start (that she had no official status, didn't apply for it, and wouldn't get it if she did).

If someone wants to claim that Harvard was "insensitive," I mean, I think that claim itself is really oversensitive and likely made in bad faith, but OK. It's kind of impossible to argue about.

How is it not a clear vindication for her? Frankly, I wouldn't have expected any, as dubious claims of NA ancestry are common where she comes from. I trusted that she was repeating something she actually heard rather than making something up, and I think the evidence is clear that she received no career benefits from it. But to people who were suspicious and thought she made up the claim, the fact that it turned out to be true should settle the issue.
if i am 0.01% black is it ok if i claim black heritage? wonder if that dolezal chick has .01%....you guys would all owe her an apology

Yep. I can see it..

he would be lying if he took a test that came back 0.01% swede and he said i'm a swede suck it

i wouldnt have released the test.
I know two brothers who are half Swede half Indian. They get bugged for getting status while being blonde, white and blue-eyed, but I can still see their mom (native) in them a bit.
I had actually given Warren the benefit of the doubt that she may have been 1/32 or possibly even 1/16.
This test result is just silly to claim as a victory.

You should research rhe company before making a claim, the user ratings are terrible and the company looks to be an outright scam.

My point was to illustrate this ridiculous notion that you can claim ancestry by having a tiny bit of native DNA. Most native tribes cut you off at 1/8th.

Of course, Trump supporters are always saying Trump isn't a racist, but calling someone of Native American heritage "Pocahontas" is absolutely racist. It's like calling a black man "Toby"
not really because she's a white woman, not a native woman.

she obviously mentioned something to Harvard. They didn't proactively make up that she was native American. ..This whole situation was caused by statements she made.

"Of 71 current Law School professors and assistant professors, 11 are women, five are black, one is Native American and one is Hispanic,” The Harvard Crimson quotes then-Law School spokesman Mike Chmura as saying in a 1996

Although the conventional wisdom among students and faculty is that the Law School faculty includes no minority women, Chmura said professor of law Elizabeth Warren is Native American,” the Crimson wrote.

The Crimson noted Warren’s heritage again in 1998 when Lani Guinier became the first black woman tenured at the law school, mentioning that Warren was “the first woman with a minority background to be tenured.”

She didn't say anything to them. She listed herself that way in a national directory of law professors.

That's not relevant to the issue, though, as she only claimed to have a tiny bit of NA ancestry.

he would be lying if he took a test that came back 0.01% swede and he said i'm a swede suck it
exactly.
this result is worse than simply thinking she is an Indian by way if family lore. She should have said, ‘fuck. either the test is wrong, or my family is wrong, because this means im not an Indian” when she got these results.
Although, when asked about my heritage, I claim Manganese and Zincium, so... i guess we are all winners here.

Well, 1/1064th wrong...
No, there is right and wrong. Her claim was she had a Native American ancestor. Trump mocked her and said she was lying. She proved that she was telling the truth. She was 100% correct and Trump was 100% wrong.

Now you're trying to justify Trump's bullshit. It's disgusting man. No one is talking about you personally so why do you feel like you have to defend Trump?

I have bought many kits from them , first buying a kit in the late 00s, when it was $299. I have read a lot about them. I have read article where population geneticists have used their tests and results. So I am not just going off a vague knowledge of them.
