You could well be right here, and if so, Warren made a smart move here. But it's possible a white person passing themselves off as a racial minority might play badly with large parts of the Dem base as some sort of appropriation. And I don't think this DNA test establishes any facts that are particularly helpful to Warren. I think she might have been further ahead foregoing making the results public rather than demonstrating that she is ~.09% Cherokee.

I don't think people who aren't opposed to her politically believe she's trying to pass herself off as anything. It's not something she's brought up in any campaign, and it's only a thing now because she's been attacked for being proud of it decades ago, which I imagine anyone who was told as a kid they had NA heritage would be. The DNA test establishes that she wasn't lied to, and by extension that she wasn't lying.

And I knew this was coming as soon as I read the article, that her critics will dismiss the test as not conclusive.

This wasn't just a mail-order test though, it was analysis done by a Stanford geneticist. Population genetics is not flim-flam, even if some mail-order test kits and their analysis are lacking. Respected institutions all over the world have been studying human populations, with papers being published in respectable academic journals. And the conclusions are accept as evidence in understanding ancient population movements and admixture.

Right so the word Pocahontas lost her the election or is it some sort of kryptonite? The test actually proved that her ancestor could be Pocahontas. Why would she do something so stupid like have Trump make her take some DNA test she didn’t need to take.
