Alarms were tested the next day or so when she was declared missing. The alarm would've gone off at the front desk and on the 15th floor loud enough to be heard a few floors below.
Only way it couldve been bypassed is by an employee.
She couldve taken the fire escape though.
Okay. I'm not arguing. Just pointing out the alarm can work correctly and people will ignore it. I've also seen the crashbar operated ones not work because they require the crashbar to be pushed. Sometime they can be bypassed as the latch doesn't work. Push on the door and it will open. Keep in mind this is a crap hotel.
In any case this is not a critical detail. We both agree she got herself on to the roof.
