i thought i had to go deeper into the ranni questline to start the festival but i havent even got to ranni yet.

i'm not sure what triggered the festival but this is weirding me out.

The festival won't start until you either rest at a grace in Altus or get there via Rannis quest.
 
How the hell are people finishing this huge DLC already? Not even out a week yet. Did people just take off of work for a while or something? Between my job and my family I'm lucky if I get in 90 minutes a day.

I’m not finished yet but I’ve put in about 21 hours. Let’s just say I’ve been staying up playing way too fucking late almost every night since it released. I’ve been like this at work all week:

made it to mohg this morning. dunno if im ready to take him and the dlc on just yet or farm the shit out of the albinaurics and get like an extra 60 levels.
 
mohg down on 2nd try. i think im pretty much ready for this DLC.

gonna run through as much as i can blind. then go by an interactive map to go back and grab whatever else i might have missed along the way.

lol i get killed like 10 seconds in by some random enemy that just jumps in. wasn't even a boss or a tree sentinel that you would first encounter at the start of the game. just a normal enemy thats doing spinning shit on me.

well, that was humbling. i guess i know what to expect out of this until i get loaded up on them scadutree fragments or whatever.

Beat Midra and just got to Messmer. Hated the sunflower at first but he really grew on me towards the end. Messmer is super cool right out of the gate. Looks like he has a pretty complicated moveset.
 
my 2nd enemy encounter was the blackgoal knight. i'm getting fisted with no lube.

i'm definately going to need to pick up them scadutree fragment things and maybe level up some more. . i'm not going to reduce myself to calling in a mimic tear on lame mini bosses but i dunno what else to do. getting 2-shot by this dude and rocking full bull goat set. i jump attack him a dozen times with the starscourge and it don't even stagger him. he's still at half health. i get hit so i chug a healing potion, he chugs one as well. cheap motherfuckers.

yeah. that erdtree favor dlc scaling thing has gotta be it. i took out mohg in less effort than it was to get this miniboss guy down to half health. and then he just fucks me before i can even react.

now i see what all the fuss is about. guess i gotta run around off the beaten path and start picking up them scat fragments. i can't get gud.

Yeah, lightning axe guy, I beat him like 10 minutes after that message.

He fucked me up for like 10-15 attempts with that massive aoe attack and kept catching me with his health recover grab attack.
 
Way behind you guys. Struggling to get the motivation to play due to work and stuff despite the DLC being awesome.

Just beat the Lion. Got him on my 4th attempt. Cool boss for the most part but i really didn't understand the delayed hitboxes added to his regular attacks during his elemental phases. The lightning and ice phases especially seems like it's RNG whether you can avoid damage at all. Can you i-frame everything or is it a matter of out positioning it and/or RNG?
