Is beating Messmer at scadoodoo level 9 good
Yes. I went through maybe 70% of the expansion on SL 10 and it got too much later on – where I wasn't having fun anymore and felt I'd left gitgud for bullsh*t land. Later learnt for perspective, that the Scadu ceiling is 20, so there you have it; you're currently at ~ 50% of available buffs. I looked all this up after beating the DLC and many were saying SL 18 is a healthy benchmark for final boss (won't spoil). Maybe all things being equal make it a goal never to exceed SL 18 if you can endure.

Well it took 2 hours but I got him down on lvl 9 with help from my lvl 5 mimic lol. Bled the fucker by spamming the rivers of blood ash. Never have I wanted to throw my laptop full-force at the wall before that lol. I just couldn't get the timing right to avoid his 2nd phase snake attacks

Yeah, same. Phase 2 was hectic and the transformation had some dive ATKs that I never properly learnt, just survived rather. He was another boss that was very hard to find healing windows for.

I've on the last guy of the DLC, I think it is, for 4 days.

What weapons is everyone using

I fell in love with the Impaler Spear, personally; R2 had me feeling like Zeus plus fire infusion. After that, these dual hatchets I found but can't recall the name. You?

NO. I'd love dual hatchets. I've used rellanas twin blades. I love the quickness of these types and this has just enough range.

I've used bloodhounds fang, since he bleeds, but I did a whole game with this. And its heavy.

Dabbled in margotts cursed sword. May try again.

Skipped katanas cuz of previous run throughs but trying sword of night now.

Great stars is my closest, but again, tired of it. Put poison on it too, but it takes too long to wield.

This whole GIT GUD shit is fine...I guess, but to get good, you practice. 1st phases can still fuck you up before you can stack practice in following phases.

Over half the time, I'll get to the last phase for the 100th time, win, and not exactly know how I did it.

Are you getting your heart stolen for insta-death?

I did once. Most of the time it's your typical college rape.
I got love-crushed to death quite a bit because the attack windows are so frustratingly narrow that even getting a second or third strike in can be ‘greedy’ a lot of times, resulting in my being too late evading the grab. I like the mechanic from a point of lore, however.

Are you implying that the scadu snacks ruined the dlc?

I'm explicitly saying the Scadu snacks are a way to equal a playing field by design unequal so players can effectively make their own difficulty level, which I think brilliant myself.

If you're making good-faith efforts to memorise movesets and still can't topple a boss, for example, Hidetaka had our backs by letting us incrementally buff ourselves to help more and more even the playing field without overpowering us.

I then added from personal experience that SL 10 was a good fulcrum for most of the DLC but later, I definitely needed the help of many more snacks.

Here are the amazing dual axes (I mistakenly called them 'hatchets') I liked for adventures in the Shadow Realm: Death Knight's Twin Axes.

Killer ATK rating for strike speed. OK guard. And really slick two-step ATKs. They looked best with bronze armours and darker garbs, IMO. *slice-slam, *chop-slice

Ohhhh, I do have that. I'll give it a try.

I finally finished the campaign a few days ago.

The story about the shamans and the jars is so fucked up. Reminds me somewhat of the research hall experiments in the old hunters dlc.

I put Gravity Spin Ash of War on my Cold Infused great Katana. Spinning bleed and cold just melt stuff!
