No Spoilers Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

They're so tanky

a bunch of bonks and it just went face down ass up and it just laid there letting me bonk away at it for a good while. fucker almost killed me early into it too but my rollie pollie game tew strong.

Phase two just isn’t enjoyable imo. His first phase is amazing, it would be one of my all time favorite fights if it stuck close to that. The dodging and counter rhythm is so satisfying.
I love the visuals of phase two. That’s odd “doubling” he does or however you would describe it. It has such a cool look to it all. Too bad I can’t understand it yet, and he basically punks the shit out of me.

The story never makes sense to me. I really should pay more attention to it, but the weird ways From always they tell them makes me zone out and not care all too much. Can you give a quick synopsis so I can avoid a 20 hour vaatyavidya marathon? If not, I understand lol.

So has anyone actually made it to Scadu level 20? Because I made it to level 19 and I feel like I’ve done everything there is to do except beat Radahn. I’ve beat every other boss, I’ve explored every Gaol, forge and catacomb, found afaik every grace point etc and I only just had enough scadu fragments to reach level 19. I have none left, so presumably that means there has to be 3 more fragments out there somewhere in order to reach level 20 but I just don’t see how that’s possible, I’ve even cross referenced a map that’s supposed to show where to find every fragment and when I look at it nothing is popping up to me as obvious as one that I missed.

Maybe I have found them all and you just cannot reach 20 in a single play through??

Some fat open world mobs drop one each. Like non boss hippos.

I found an odd discrepancy between dungeon difficulty and boss difficulty, which I think explains a lot of the frustration. You can easily go to Carian Castle as your first major dungeon, plow through an easy thread, and then bump into Rellana as your first boss. It happened to me. Then I'm forced to leave because it was impossible, interrupting the natural flow. I went to Belurat, which was much harder as a dungeon, but with a much easier boss.

Then I'm going around Scaldu Altus for a while and end up going to Shadow Mane, having a reasonably hard time, only to be met by Messmer at +7 and get brutalized. I hadn't discovered the Cerulean Coast, so I was underlevelled. I beat him after many tries and changing my build, but it was way harder than the dungeon would have suggested.

Then the ruins of Rhea and Abyssal Woods, and the Mother of Fingers, which are later game, felt much easier, as did everything after Messmer but before the final boss. Bayle was very hard... until you realized that using the Great Dragon Hunter Katana essentially shows he is a gimmick boss ala Rykard. The skill melts him.

The final boss, however, is ridiculous. The first phase is already a bit busted due to the gravity pull attack. But the second phase is simply a mess. The pillars of light make most machines stutter like crazy, but worse still the block visibility to the point you can't tell what animation the boss is loading up, which means you are bound to die instantly.

Who is the easier boss in Belurat? I must have missed him.

I've watched a few people fight him now and in phase two it seems possible to avoid all the spells by staying behind his hip and then rolling the big AOE. So I'm going to try circling behind him and hopefully beat this fucker today.

Haha I'm the same. I don't understand any of the story or lore implications of the second phase cutscene but it's probably interesting.

just going off the beaten path doing random mini dungeons and shit and i made it to the jagged peak somehow. i kinda get the sense that i really shouldn't be here right now

tried this. it worked lol. fuck playing hide and go seek for this bullshit.

Ok she might be the only boss really comparable to Lion. Except for Radahn but he's full of shit.

Uhm, Messmer is a lot tougher than the Dancing Lion. also, Bayle.

No way. Messmer doesn't have as much health and his moves are slower and more telegraphed, albeit more complicated as well. Lion is vicious, has crazy range and is just harder to read in general, especially given how he goes partially invisible when you get up close to him.

Lion doesn't have much HP. Messmer takes a lot longer to put down imo. Also, Bayle.
