Alvarez having just fought Pettis should be somewhat of a help. In addition, Mark Henry just prepared Eddie for a three month camp against Pettis. Then he goes straight into preparing Edson for Pettis. He must have some pretty good understanding of Pettis and his movements, patterns, etc.

Edson has all the tools - just seems to be something missing. His kicks are unreal.

I agree. He's younger in mma than most who he fights though. He's only been training mma at an actual camp for 3 years. Before that he was winging it. He seems to be improving but so is everyone else it's tough

I can definitely see him pulling an RDA and finally putting it all together. Especially now that he is in an actual camp/team.

He'd be RDA with better standup but slightly lesser ground game (whereas RDA is slightly lesser stand up in regards to Edson but better ground game IMO).

Barboza is gonna beat Pettis in this fight, he is faster and he wants it more. I see him leg kicking Pettis to death too, Pettis if you guys notice doesn't really block leg kicks. I think Barboza will win a unanimous decision..30-27

Edson's biggest problem is that he's a chinny striker. So everyone wants to see him engage in striking wars but everyone from Cowboy to Castillo lights him up.

I think Pettis drops him with something big then gets the TKO.

My guess is thats why he brought in Felder. Dude's got real solid striking defense.

I hate to be that guy, but he's been dropped twice in his 14 UFC fights.... His chin issues are grossly exaggerated.

He hasn't been rocked since Cerrone and since then has had wars with Green, Felder, Johnson, Ferguson, etc.

weidman?

so hes getting his excuses in check if he loses to pettis. good for him

I don't think Alvarez would be the person I would pick if I were seeking opinion advice on how to take out Pretty Pettis, his performance against Pettis was less than impressive with his desperation wrestling & stall against the wall & mat fighting. Pettis sure is not making it easy on himself to get a needed win, I thought Eddie would've been the easier fight than Barboza.

Barboza is gonna UD Pettis.

Anthony does not have the style to beat him imo.

I have a feeling Barboza isn't going to take the Eddie Alvarez approach to this fight. I think this one is kill or be killed.

While I agree, that the chin issues are exaggerated, I think he got rocked by Ferguson. Which pretty much made him go for that terrible ass td and get submitted. Plus the fact that Ferguson was walking through everything like he was on pcp or some shit.

That being said, Barboza by spinning shit.

Good pick up. Kind of reminds me of ShadFace - people questioning Rashad's chin based on 1 career loss by KO.

Been clamoring for this match up
since the WEC merger. What a
dream. Strikers delight.

Let's hope it doesn't turn out
to be a sparring match like
Pettis/stephens or barboza/njokuani

With what? Edson should be smart enough to see the kicks coming and Anthony has robotic boxing with average power.
