Movies Edgar Wright's THE RUNNING MAN (2ndTrailer, post #87)

I agree with the sentiment. The book has a very clear description of the main character: "a hulking giant of a man" with a "physique that looks like it was carved out of granite" who spoke with a "deep, husky voice tinged with a strong Germanic accent". Arnold fit the bill and the production lucked out that he was a major film star.
There are degrees to casting a character wrong. Some things are less egregious than others.

The original book is fantastic, way better than the 80's movie.

Unfortunatley they never gonna be able to do the original ending, cos of 9-11

I have a feeling this is gonna end up worse than that Total Recall remake. Hollywood is running out of ideas and this is a classic example of their ineptitude. Capybara man Glen Powell has a fraction of the charisma of 80s Arnold. The trailer looks alright and closer to the book but it won't capture the legendary one liners of the original

The remake was one the dumbest shit things I've seen that much money spent on.
They didn't even get how gravity works right. As you get closer to the core the gravity.. increases lol it's such pure nonsense the entire movie just eats shit you are like no.. gravity increases as you get closer to the core motherfuckers. Just no lol

Converting from a novel to film (or tv) is always a challenge.

What casting decisions do you tend to find egregious?

For me, it is casting Shia LaBeouf, I don't care what the novel says.
