Would be two straight losses for frankie and one would think it would be really tough for him to get another title fight and cub has recently considered retirement. What say you? Could this be the last we see of one of these guys inside the octagon?

I fucking hope not for either guy.

Both make good $$ per fight, so I don't see either of them retiring just yet.

This is their full time job. We fans are the ones who worry about their long term health and brain damage, but the fighters themselves are a different breed.

Nah.

Both guys are legit top 5 to 10 fighters in that weightclass at the moment.

They both have a few good fights left in them imo.

Hard to imagine a fighter of Frankie's mentality not pushing his career as far as possible. I think he's likely to go past 40.

nah.

just because ortega BTFO'd both of them doesnt mean for them to both retire.

they could still hang with the rest of the boys in the top 10 i think.

but it will be interesting to see who bounces back better after getting brutally finished by ortega in both their last fights.

Not that I would want to see either guy risk their health, but based on the great fights and performances these two regularly display, I hope neither guy retires anytime soon.

Nah.

WAR EDGAR!

WAR CUB!

Cub should be fighting KZ or someone else who will give him a barn burner. What a waste of a fight.

Pretty ridiculous to think that either of these guys are retiring with a loss IMO. Neither of them are that old and neither have particularly been on much of a downslide (having only lost to the #1 contender). Just because they may not win the belt doesn't mean they should just hang it up. Look at Arlovski; he was on a 5 fight win streak and has now won 2 straight.

Remember that there are much, much bigger things at stake than rankings and "legacy"... fighting is their livelihood and the way they support their families. Do you think either guy has enough money to just retire now and not have income for the rest of their lives? Opening a camp or becoming a coach can be risky ventures just like starting any business and many fighters don't have any other skill to fall back on. With that being said, no, I don't think either guy is even close to being done and will fight in the ufc at least 5 more times.

Cub just resign his best paying deal for 4-5 fights so he's not retiring yet. Frankie never mentioned it and he wouldn't jump at the idea of fighting cub just to retire he'd go out on a big stage vs someone he really wants.

It’s sad that once Frankie starts racking up loses people will shit on him and say he ruined his legacy, because MMA fans suck

Useless rematch imo

Edgar is on the way down and should get something fresh.

Swanson is unfortunately stuck. It’s a high risk low reward fight.

I hope I'm wrong, but this puts it into perspective for me. Edgar is coming fresh off a buh-rutal Ortega uppercut KO loss. Cub has had months and months to recover from an Ortega guillotine.

I just wish Frankie would have taken time off til Fall or so. He's too warrior for his career's own good

Yeah I was surprised that Frankie took a fight with really no time off. But they are gamers, unless cub catches him with something early I will expect Frankie to do what he did last time he fought cub.

the winner is right back in the mix. I doubt the loser even drops out of the top 10, let alone retires.
