Well let me think... Aldo... Edgar... I KNOW!!!
Should be stripped...
Should be stripped...
Aldo refuses to fight for an interim belt and Frankie just wants to fight Mcgregor.you heard here first...
And more important. who wins this time ?
As much as I believe Conor should defend, an interim doesn't make sense. It hasn't even been a year since he won it. Cain won his title then took over a year off. Then he did it again. Also has gone over a year without defending. I think the cutoff is a year imo. If the title isn't defended or a fight booked within a calender year of winning then yeah, make it happen. Personally would prefer the Frankie fight.
I have said that several times. Conor should be defending. But it hasn't even been 6 months since he won it. I don't want to see the Diaz fight, but why should he vacate. Like I said a timeframe should be put in place, but even then, everyone knows who the champ is.An entire year should not be the standard for interim belts being decided.
That isn't even a very valid point in this situation. Because the fact is, the champion is able to defend but is not only choosing not to, he is seemingly ENCOURAGED not to. Call it protecting him, call it a financial decision, whatever. The fact is, the belt needs to be defended and there are several participants who deserve a shot at it, specifically Edgar.
Yup, suggested the same. The whole 'interim' title is one big mess.
But McGregor vs IC Edgar at MSG would be huge
and McGregor vs IC Aldo at MSG would be poetic justice
Its been 3 months since the title was defended.
Stop making it seem like three years
If it's not defended at UFC 200, it will be closer to 9 months by the time it actually IS defended.
Which is no big deal.
As far as a simple timeframe goes, you're right. But considering the fact that it could have been defended and wasn't and has kept deserving contenders sidelined makes it pointless.
Guys like Edgar and Aldo are forced to wait (because why should they take a fight that could hinder their chances?) and guys like Holloway who should be fighting for contendership are left with uncertain futures.
It's really just about the logistics of the situation and the decisions that are being made.
To be fair, I'm not saying he should be stripped but I also wouldn't be against it. I understand both sides.
Wasn't he supposed to jump up and down defending both belts since he s so active? Now is pulling an aldo and defending it once a year?lol...Which is no big deal.
