"I would ask [UFC president] Dana White, 'Please give me an easier fight, like Conor McGregor,'" Alvarez said. "I deserve that. I've been fighting the best guys, so I would like a gimme fight. So, Conor, I'd more than welcome that."

"Look, there's a lot of guys in the UFC who are good at one thing, and they get matched up stylistically well," Alvarez said. "They make their way to the top without ever going against the true best guys in the division. They sneak their way around them, and they live off perception, not what really is. [McGregor] is one of them. I think he can get found out. If he was ever to fight Rafael Dos Anjos or to fight myself, he'd get found out very quickly."

thoughts @Jin Akutsu?

He's playing the game he knows what he's doing. Taking subtle digs at Conor, trying to rile him up for the money fight.

Eddie has fought some tough opponents over the last 18 months. I respect the guy

I think Conor might beat him tho and take that LW belt

Enjoy your title Eddie. Good job. You have zero need to call out Conor. Makes you look very desperate for somebody to care about you and get you off Fightpass and free midcard bouts.

Eddie wrestlefuck Conor any day of the week. Take him down.. punish him and get the finish.
He also has more power than Nate and we all saw hoy Connie folded after getting punched a few times in that one.

Bad matchup for MysticTap. He has a round 1 punchers chance and thats it.

Sorry Eddie, Nate will derail that.

Nate will be fine giving you a scrap though.

I actually want to see Eddie fight, I don't want to witness a 1 round blow out.

Eddie alvarez is one entitled dude.

I always get the impression he feels the world owns him something, or he is paranoid everyone is against him.

I disagree, before yesterday's fight everyone was saying that RDA was gonna walk through Alvarez and look what happened to him

As much as I love Eddie he is as stupid as shit for saying this.

"They make their way to the top without ever going against the true best guys in the division"

He beat every guy in the division minus Frankie, KO'ed Aldo in 13 seconds...I mean do these guys even engage their brains before they say this stuff? This is why 99% of UFC guys cannot market themselves the way Conor can, even when they do open their mouth to trash talk it's stuff that makes no sense whatsoever and anyone with half a brain can contradict it in two seconds.

Alvarez speaking some hard truths. I think Eddie should pay attention to the hitters directly in front of him and currently in his division. Conor will come yelling soon enough for your belt until then keep working instead of chasing the lottery ticket, unfortunately for you after the this up coming Nate loss he'll go from big lottery ticket to scratch & win money with declining interest in the Irish dude...

He's been one of the best LWs for the last 10 years or so but he hasn't gotten the credit for it, I get why he want a big money fight like Conor and an easier match up, he's been given a lot of tough match ups in the UFC that are almost all top 1-7.

I watched the press conference, and he didn't seem desperate at all. He delivered his takedown of McGregor and sideways offer to fight him as a gimme with a relaxed smile on his face. Conor is a combination of a perceived easy fight and a big pay day for these guys. Alvarez has the belt, now he wants to get paid.

I never thought Alvarez came off as a smart guy, but he handled himself well in that interview imo. Humble and classy. He managed to talk a bit of trash and attempt to rile up Conor without coming off as a horse's ass.

You know.. I had a little money on Eddie via TKO. I always thought that was a close fight and indeed was.

Eddie is a smart guy when it comes to gameplanning. He does not take unnecesary risks and goes straight to where he has the advantage.
People was saying that he was going to be destroyed by Pettis and he still pulled it off. It was not pretty but he did what he had to.

Eddie would not stand and bang with Conor where he can get finished... he is going straight to the grapplefuck. And I really doubt Conor defensive grappling.

So after yesterday your reaction is to doubt Eddie more? That's weird.

One truth he spoke is that Conor never fought the top guys. At LW, no doubt this is true. But at FW it isn't. The only top FW McGregor has yet to fight is Frankie.

Smart move by Eddie.
