The Ethiopian tradition of putting all the food onto one large spongy bread thing and using that "bread plate" as the utensil
seems to be the best of both worlds, like spongy bread spoon gloves... I didn't enjoy it though when my friends raw Lamb brains were all contaminating my vegetables.
