If you haven't heard of it before, there is a curse associated with being on the cover of EA sports games. Most notibly the cover of Madden, but I think there are some examples from the NHL game too. Here's a link about the Madden Curse http://gaming.wikia.com/wiki/Madden_curse

It looks like the curse might have crossed over to the mma games as well.

EA MMA (Released Oct. 19 2010)
Cover: Fedor and Couture
Fedor: had already lost to Werdum (as of the release date, but I'm not sure when the cover was announced) and lost his next two.
Couture: Brutally KO'd by Machida in his only fight after the game.

EA UFC (Released June 17 2014)
Cover: Jones and Gus
Gus: 0-2 since the game including being smashed by Rumble
Jones: hasn't lost, but the curse might have figured out another way to get him. He was stripped of his title

EA UFC 2
Cover: Ronda and Conor
Ronda: Brutally KO'd by Holm
Conor: First fight since the cover announcement is Saturday vs Diaz. Is there money to be made here? Or is McGregor to good for that bullshit?

This EA curse doesn't hold up for their FIFA series. Messi, Henry, Rooney and Ronaldinho featured multiple times, it's thrown up very few duds in over 20 years.
Tiger Woods transformed and dominated the game of Golf in his 10-15 reign and has featured on all but 1 of EA's golf series

I'm thinking he'll avoid the curse by changing weight classes win the LW title and then get stripped of FW title for not defending. The curse may be satisfied with that.

I should ad that I don't actually believe in this crap, just think it's interesting. I have Conor by KO on Saturday.

The problem with a "curse" like this is that there are so few data points. It's not like the Eminem curse which has hundreds of fights to work with, the Nam Phan curse which has ~80 picks, or the Curse of the Poster which was just one after another.

The Madden Curse, however, is no joke.
