Dustin Poirier vs Tony Ferguson

And here come the excuses <Lmaoo>. Okay, if you're not "confident" enough to bet your account, how about $1000 USD straight up? I take Khabib, you take Tony and the fight has to take place within one year from today for the bet to be valid. Completely even playing field so if you're that confident in the overrated Tony, show it now

So I should bet you at even $ when the books will have Tony about +200? Again, why would I do that?

Not to mention, you clearly didn't even read any of what I said. I said the fight would be a dogfight. Do I think Tony has a solid chance to beat Khabib assuming it's Tony's next fight and happens soon? Yeah. Do I think Khabib also has a clear path to victory and could win? Of course. You have pulled this narrative out of thin air that I've been claiming Tony will for sure beat Khabib. Where did I say that? You started by saying what a one-sided beatdown it would be. I replied by saying I hope the fight happens so you and other can "see what a dogfight it would become". How is that me making crazy claims that Tony is a lock? Do you want to go back and read what we both typed and catch your breath a bit?

Lol what I heard you say was "let's not age Tony too much" and then as soon as a really no stakes bet is offered to you (it's a sherdog acct ffs <Lmaoo>), suddenly "But but Tony is 35 <Eek2.0>" and your excuse for not taking that was that my account was too new and not a fair bet. Fine, I offered you straight up even money which is totally fair and again... another excuse and more backtracking.

I made a very fair analysis about why Tony is not "miles ahead" of other contenders and how I know Khabib would beat him if they fought. You disagreed, explained your case for Tony slowing him down and beating him in a cardio contest in the late rounds, and I offered you to back up your claims with a bet which made you completely backtrack and basically reiterate my original point that Tony is past his prime. Nice to know we're on the same page now although I would have appreciated the free money.

Yeah you said he was "turning 36", I said that kind of tongue in cheek since he'd just turned 35.

And yeah I'm not betting a 12 year old account on a fight. You want a sig bet or something like that, sure. I like the fact I've been a part of this community this long. Is it some insanely valued possession? Of course not. Am I gonna cancel my account over a bet on a fight? No.

You then offered me horrible odds compared to what I can easily get elsewhere were the fight to happen. If I was going to bet $1k, why would I bet you at even $ when I could get 2-1 literally anywhere else. Look at my post history, I bet MMA for a LONG time, and you can look at how I used to only really post in the MMA betting forum. I won enough that 5d limited me and it became not really worth it to spend the time capping fights anymore (along with the fact it was taking too much time and I have a family). You want to talk MMA betting, believe me I can do that. We can head over to the MMA betting subforum and discuss with the guys over there.

Your analysis about Tony not being miles ahead was countered every step by me. And in fact we actually agreed with each other on a lot of points made there. I didn't totally discount your view at all on that.

Again, here's my verbatim quote of you saying Khabib will easily beat Tony:
"I so hope we do get Tony vs Khabib as I think you and so many others will be stunned at what a dogfight it ends up as. Assuming they don't wait until Tony is 40 years old to do it..."
How is that me claiming Tony is some sort of lock to beat Khabib LMAO? You can read, I know you can. Yet you didn't comprehend what I typed here?

I then went on to explain why I think Tony has a solid chance to win. Somehow you didn't comprehend that and instead tried to fabricate some scenario where I was guaranteeing a win by Tony or something? Not sure if you thought you'd bait me into making a stupid bet at horrible odds compared to the books, or what your endgame was. Either way, you seemed to concoct some version of our discussion that never existed. Go back and read it, and you'll see nowhere me saying Tony would absolutely win. I've discussed this fight ad nauseum with a ton of people and have never said that both guys don't have paths to victory.

I’d appreciate it more if you just admit you pussied out but yeah... make more excuses. “I am proud to be a part of this community” LOL You got called out about your claims that the great Kevin Lee is an underrated grappler (when in fact he is completely unproven against top competition) and that Khabib was somehow going to struggle with Tony’s overrated guard game and immediately caved as soon as an opportunity to prove your beliefs came up. You’re full of shit and you pussied out as soon as you got called out on your fanboy comments about Tony because you know full well he is overrated yet continue to hype him because he’ll never get a title shot and thus never get exposed. Ignored

Damn. I actually thought for a bit you weren't just a mouth breather looking to start shit online. Guess I was wrong. I don't give a fuck what you'd "appreciate", kid.

I like having actual solid discussions about MMA and you started out okay. Then you devolved into trying to bait me into betting when (again, because you evidently can't read) I never claimed Tony would for sure beat Khabib.

Kevin Lee? You never even addressed my point that he's a great grappler WHEN he's not tired. His problem is his horrid gas tank, and you didn't even respond to that part.

I guess you aren't alone as being one of these types. Inventing narratives and making up shit that other posters never said or even insinuated. Plenty of you little mopes out there. I look at a potential fight and say "That will be a dogfight" and puds like you somehow take that as a challenge to start trying to make bets and talk shit. I hope this is just an online thing and you don't operate this sad way in your normal life.

Your points are valid. He's still MILES ahead. Maybe just not as many miles as me and some others might think. :)

Like you said, you can't look at where guys are now, you have to look at who they were when he fought them.

And...if we want to play that game...Dustin has 4 total wins at LW and would likely have a loss if not for the weird ending of his first fight with Alvarez.

Jim Miller is 1-4 since facing Poirier.
Anthony Pettis (as you said) is 3-6 in his last 9.
Gaehtje is a nice win, but his win over Vick now looks less impressive as Vick just lost again to Felder. Gaethje also was finished by his (Dustin's) next opponent...
Eddie Alvarez, who the UFC didn't even think was worth paying enough to keep, who went 4-3 with 1 NC in the UFC, and 2 of those 4 wins were over Pettis (we talked about him) by decision and Melendez by dec. Melendez, who lost his next 2 fights and maybe retired?

So we can kind of do what you did to Tony's record...but worse with Dustin. Hell we can probably do it to anyone.

Do it to Khabib.... :)

If your taking dumb bets let me get Jon Jones at +200 please :)

People still doubting Tony ,thats crazy.
Dustin is not even close to Tony’s level.

Do it to Khabib.... :)

I'm at work...but I can.

Conor was 2-1 above 145 before the Khabib fight.
Al had not fought in like 2 years prior to the Khabib fight. (I really like Al and he's good but I'm doing this for the sake of this exercise ha ha).
Barboza is a good win but Tony finished him and he was already called a "gatekeeper to the stars".
He fought some scrub before that on short notice I think.

Alright I'm on my phone and not looking up more haha.

Exactly. If we start picking apart the records of the best guys like Khabib, Tony, Dustin...then what the hell are we doing?

Dustin has finished multiple former champs yet is being held back because of MJ a guy who beat Ferguson knocking him out
Neither fight is relevant

Dustin's is more relevant because he's still showing the same defensive striking deficiencies and you can't improve a chin. MJ would probably beat him again if they fought today.
