during the dustin poirier-bobby green fight at ufc 199, dustin dropped bobby with a 4-punch combination that immediately reminded me of chris weidman's ko of anderson silva in their first fight-
what stands out to me is the flurry of punches alternate- left side, right side, left side- until doubling the left, which results in a knockdown (or in weidman's case, a ko). (i realize weidman's pattern is left hand, right hand, right hand, left hand, but from silva's perspective, the strikes are coming from opposite sides until the final one)
both green and silva 'roll' with the punches, moving their head/body in the opposite direction to avoid, or at least minimize, the damage. doubling up on one side not only catches green/silva off guard, but also catches them leaning into the punch, intensifying the impact.
anyone else notice instances of deja vu between 2 fights?
