Duke Nukem 3D is 30 Years Old Today

You young whippersnappers these days.....

I thought that was Secret Agent, but I looked it up and it looks different

I haven't played it on the other systems, but it may be better on the Saturn.

You don't censor Duke.
N64 was technically fine but censored.
PS1 was uncensored but had all kinds of technical issues.
Saturn was the best console version since it had neither and actually used a different engine (Powerslave).

Damn son 30 years huh?? Shake it baby. I remember kicking that big alien dudes head through the uprights with Duke 30 years ago. What a transcendent title. Unfortunately doesn't still compete with DOOM nowadays though.

remember when it took 15 years of vaporware hell to come out with this garbage? lol

As mediocre as that game was I kind of feel like playing through it again sometime soon, and to play the DLC which I never tried and didn’t even know about, as you apparently fight Dr Proton, the villain from the OG side scrolling games 35 years ago.

Was it really garbage or just dated?

It's a weird one, because I don't even know what people were expecting from it. Duke Nukem was always just some over the top crass game with toilet humor and generic shooter gameplay, and that's pretty much what it was. The way people talked about it, it's like they were expecting the most revolutionary shooter of all time.

I played Duke Forever when it came out and was pleasantly surprised for the first few levels. It wasn't mind-blowing, but decent enough with a few good highlights. But eventually everything went to shit and the latter part of the game was clearly an unfinished rush job, which was understandable I guess.

I remember way back in the day when the first trailer dropped and the hype was real. This was jaw-dropping shit back then

good point and not really sure. my memory of it was that it was half baked, unpolished, the driving sections were boring and not really a part of the duke universe, the graphics were relatively bad compared to other 2011 FPS at the time, and "the comedy" just didn't stick and wasn't the same.
