Not Indonesia but Taiwan and Singapore are the #4 and #5 most intelligent nations, and China is up there ahead of the likes of UK too. They all execute drug traffickers.

I can understand why China would. The British fucked them over pretty hard with opium, then Japan came in and took seconds. A society full if drug addicts is not going to be a productive one.

When you consider how many people die of OD's and drug related violence it's not hard too understand the rationale for the death penalty.

Criminalization creates the black market that causes the violence. People OD by their own lack of self control. The death penalty has no moral basis for victimless crimes.

That's not drug smuggling. That's talking about folks like Lazcano Lazcano. Kingpins, who may not have taken lives, but who operate large-scale drug trafficking operations that take many lives. The taking of the lives isn't an element of the crime that needs to be met, but it is implied in the "kingpin" status.
