I'm not talking about drinking games, all that kiddy nonsense to see who can snort the most vodka or that sort of rubbish. This thread is for the sports you play indoors, with your mob, when the beers are moving in the right direction.

So come on. What's the best bar games - to watch, and to play. Cutting out the obvious chaff (bar billiards, skittles, bar skittles, all that bollocks), and only considering the big 4:

Pool
Snooker
Darts
Bowling

Personally, I think Snooker is the best to watch, but christ it's hard to play. I played every week for a good 2 years, and never got any better over that time. You watch the pros do it, and it's completely hypnotic, especially when one of the fast guys is on point. Then you go to your local club, and the table suddenly appears to be 5 times bigger than you remembered - almost like the weather's different at one end to the other.

Pool is great fun, but for me, it's Darts that's the most fun to play when you're on the beers. Everyone can play, to a degree, and when the stars align you can actually get a few decent scores, and even make the occasional 3-dart checkout.

Bowling - I know it's taken fairly seriously in the States, but it always struck me as more of a kid's game - something you do with your family or a lame kid's birthday party.

Good ol game of cards can be fun.

If you are a little nerdy, team trivia pursuit is blast. Cards against Humanity, Catch Phrase is fun to but we played that shit so much we remembered all the answers.

Also its getting warm. Cornhole and horseshoes is where its at.

We play jarts (lawn darts) quite a bit.

Bags (corn hole)

When it is nice outside.

We also play liars dice (a bluffing game) when inside.

I wasn't sure about including cards, because I believe cards to be a game (albeit one with an infinite complexity, when played for money). Snooker, darts etc. requires fine motor skills.

What's this cornhole you're on about? I've only ever heard that as a euphemism to describe one's 70s Tea Towel Holder...

I saw two guys play Roshambo with athletic cups one time, but got drunk an spun around a baseball bat for 30 seconds first before they could kick. It only lasted two rounds.

i love pool and snooker but i do play it often, im county level and enjoy still, snooker is a lot tougher than pool, i couldn't imagine the american top guys playing a real cue sport... theyd get destroyed.

top snooker guys have come to pool and owned..

like watching darts on tv, raymond van barneyveld is my favourite, it's a good watch on tv and pulls tens of thousands crowds weekely. i'm shit at it though, my top 3 sports... snooker/pool then mma.. darts

yeah snooker is a great and difficult sport. i know ronnie and prime hendry make it look easy, oh and steve davis.. farewell, have a good retirement.

but a lot of pool players cant play snooker.. any decent snooker player can play pool and win, and especially 9 ball..

Does seem a lot easier to transition from snooker to pool than the other way round. The snooker table being the same size as a fucking tennis court being the main reason. Ronnie's 5m 20s 147 remains one of the single most astonishing things I've ever witnessed from a human being.

yeah snooker table is pretty much x2 as big.

ronnie is one of the best, a lot consider him greatest, but i think prime hendry destroys him. better on table and mentally.. 7 time champ

that break you showed is classic roinnie, he's just on and off, but a natural player. and exciting

Yup, Hendry is top man. Ronnie's had greater longevity, and has more talent, but Hendry was the master. Completely untouchable during his reign. Ice in his veins, an iron will, and was the best middle pocket player that's ever lived.

what you think of jimmy white?

probably my sporting idol, he changed snooker.

past it, and the reaction he had. epic my favourite match

relevant lol

" you had connections and loads of money now you got fuck all"

lol

jimmy should dropped him
