Due to all my MMA training, weight training, cardio training I've started drinking a gallon of milk a day to help with my calories and I'm getting the best results I've ever had. Now I'm recovering more and able to lift and run all with a great amount of energy. Is this bad long term though or something I should stop doing if I'm not trying to gain weight/mass? Because I'm so active I don't have a ton of extra body fat but I don't have six pack either. It's costing me about $25 a week and since my budgets low its a great way to get calories in which I need since I'm so active.

Depends on with all of your training if it is putting alot of fat/mass onto your body. If it is cut back to an amount that still makes it easier to train hard, yet doesn't put all the fat/mass onto your body.

It is worth doing for as long as you feel like doing it. I can't think of anything dangerous about it. You said that you don't want to gain weight. You can stop at any time if you feel like you're gaining too much weight/getting fat.

Chili is also a nice, cheap source of calories. $10 for a 6 pack of chili at BJ's. Each can is like 700 calories.

You're doing Stronglifts 5x5 too? I'm about a month in and my squats are already stronger than they ever were. I did 210 today without much difficulty.

GOMAD is ... well, that's tough. I like solid food too and goddamned if I can't choke down that much milk in a day. I'm finding other ways to get the calories and protein in, and I see the merits of GOMAD, but damn, that just turns into the Kenny Rogers Dairy Challenge at some point.

ref:

its really hard to drink GOMAD but instead I drink 1/2 OR 2/3 and the rest from other source mainly eggs , chicken breast and lentil

Half

Chicken

GOMAD isn't really meant to be a long-term solution, it's more of a short-term way for someone to get in some extra calories. Are you drinking whole milk? I would think over the long-term you'd get sick of drinking so much milk

For ruken:

If you are not trying to gain weight, taper back the calories.

This is good advice. A gallon a day is excessive, half a gallon is good if you still wanna be awesome. I would rather ditch the bread and pasta and drink the milk than the other way around. Paleo + milk ftw

Why are you all acting like a gallon is a lot?

Half a litre with 4 meals, plus Half a litre 3 times a day as part of a snack. There, done. I probably drink around that much milk most days without even thinking about it.

Or maybe I just come from a milk drinking family.

I easily drink over half a gallon daily without any GOMAD or diet plan as well. My girlfriend won't drink more than a glass every now and even then its only with something like peanut butter or cookies lol.

EDIT: And put whole or 2% in front of me and I get a semi chub.

Agreed when I first started GOMAD early this year I was surprised on how easy it was to down a gallon throughout the day.

Tried to find a sexy milk pic that didn't involve enemas...instead found this gem.
