Listening to Michael Chiesa commentate Venator FC 3 yesterday and hearing him do a really good job, I started thinking about fresh voices for commentary. So here's the question:

Which ACTIVE UFC fighters that are NOT already commentators or UFC on Fox analysts and have not already commentated the UFC or other big leagues (so no Daniel Cormier/Dominick Cruz/Tyron Woodley/Rashad Evans/Josh Barnett/Frank Mir. We need new blood) would you like to see get a shot at commentating a fight night event?

Note that we need people with sufficient experience in the sport (not less than 8 years at least), good command of the english language, a good analytical mind and a likeable, fun persona.

Here are my suggestions:

Pairing nr.1: Carlos 'The Natural Born Killer' Condit and Demetrious 'Mighty Mouse' Johnson

Both are very likeable characters with a lot of insight into the technical side of the sport and a ton of experience. They are both well spoken, have big names and are generally well liked. I think DJ would profit from the additional exposure, and I believe Condit could prove himself to be very well suited for the job.

Pairing nr.2: Miesha 'Cupcake' Tate and Michael 'Maverick' Chiesa

Chiesa is borderline cheating because he did commentate yesterdays event. But he had a good showing and most people probably missed it, so I say let him have his day in the big leagues. These are both very chill, joke-y and at the same time analytically sharp people. And the UFC could benefit from and build on Tate's new-found hype and make her into one of the sports most presentable figures.

Who do you think would make for a great commentator?

Well you need a duo that has, The Idiot ( Goldberg ) and the analyst ( Joe Rogan ). I'd love to see Frank Mur or Domonick Cruz as analysts and as for the idiot...I dunno, Conor ?

Yoel Romero would be funny. Not good. Just funny.
imagine Yoel Romero calling a fight between Nick Ring and Dennis Hallman in his fight-thong. I wonder how many times he would say "What happened to you, USA?"

I don't know why, but I have a feeling Jim Miller would do really well.

Dominck Cruz
Carlos Condit

Domick Cruz
Daniel Cormier

Like another person said, you need balance. Someone who can conduct post-fight interviews and general commentating, and then someone who is an analyst.

Essentially an Anik/Stann figure paired with a Cruz/Mir would be a good. I know people don't like Anik, but I think he is decent (far better than Goldie).

Edit: If Joe Rogan leaves, then Goldie must go.

You can't have two color commentators. They'd just sound like two people having a beer watching the event. One has to be play by play. These people are more color commentators.

If Tate and Chiesa did commentary together it would be completely silent whenever it isn't on the mat, 2 of the worst strikers in the UFC, they wouldn't understand what's going on.

Analysts:
I like Carlos.
Miesha is pretty good too.
Damien Maia.
Wouldn't mind Mir.

I'd honestly like them to try new commentators on fight nights.

Tate surprised me commentating Invicta. She's pretty good.

She knows what she's doing in the grappling exchanges but she doesn't know what's going on when there's high level striking in play.

Tate was with someone else doing commentary on a fight not long ago.Sorry i cant remember what org it was in.Might of been Invicta and imo she wasnt very good at all

Cruz is really good.Id like to see Dj as he is also a very smart fighter.

Completely disagree. More retired fighters, less biased, active fighters. Nothing irritates me more (concerning commentators) than being subjected to Cormier or Woodley aggrandizing themselves.
