Television Dragonlord's Recommendation: FRIEREN: BEYOND JOURNEY'S END (Watch the Complete Series)

I absolutely would be interested. I don't dislike it. I just was expecting to be blown away and maybe was disappointed I wasn't. But the quality is there for sure.
Are you still in episode 7? Were the new aristocratic-looking demons introduced yet?

I watched for DL because he highly recommended it.
If i stumbled on this by myself I wouldn't have made it past the thumbnail.
And I only went past 2 episodes because I told DL I was going to watch it.
And I'm glad i did. Its very, very good. I highly recommend. Really wholesome, too.

Thanks again for indulging me.
Hope you come back for season 2 coming out January 2026.

Just gave it a rewatch, this time the dub. Great voice acting even. Great show
You actually watch anime with Sub titles when a dub is available? I don't understand what is gained ? Am I missing something..

Dubs can be pretty bad depending on anime

Black lagoon is a good example where dub was actually better than japanese version lol
Brah it's tough to screw up a dub in anime . Only ways to screw it up is to be crazy late in the delivery or awful voice actors for the dub that actually try to be bad.

You'd be surprised. Most cannot convey the gravity of the scene or the humor is lost in the English version or too monotonous. Japanese tend to be more expressive as well.

Yeah but im still reading the English and got no clue anything but maybe 5 words in Japanese. I just don't see the value being enough to use subs as subs takes away from the viewing.

FFS that long :( you know of it would be dropped all at once or literally 1 - 25 min ep a week? If it would all drop at once that would be worth a month payment to CR..

I think it's going to be released one episode a week (as it should be) just like the first season. Quality shows should be given time to cook.

I won't be mad if season 2 is of Sein's reunion with his friend Gorilla Warrior and meets Kraft. Then the 3 goes to follow Frieren up to Aureole. 2 mages, 2 priests, 2 warriors. That would be peak fantasy party.

Personally, I prefer watching anime with the original language with subs. Heck, I even watch English-language shows with subs as to not miss anything being said. This is just a personal preference but here are my reasons for watching anime in subs:

1. I find most English dub tend to have an unnatural melodic touch with their line delivery which takes me out of it. When I watched Samurai X back in the 90s, loved the dub version. But when I listen to it now, I don't care for it.

2. A lot of anime have the same English voice actors. So I constantly hear the same voice over and over again which kinda gets tiresome. To be fair, there's also a lot of anime with the same Japanese voice actors. But the difference is I don't understand Japanese, so the novelty is still there.

3. The Japanese language tends to use more syllables or words to convey something compared to English. So in order to match the characters' lips or speech, the English dub tend to use a lot of extra words which seems a bit forced to me.

4. Maybe it's a culture thing but I just prefer Japanese dub in anime because I find the acting more natural compared to English dub. Again, it has something to do with not understanding Japanese, so I can't find anything to critique and just accept whatever they're saying.

5. I'm a fast subtitle reader, so it doesn't take away from enjoying the visuals for me.

6. There's a certain charm or uniqueness to the Japanese delivery that the English dub can't match or convey.

No, I watched it when it came out, and it wasn't dubbed yet. They often change what they say in the dubs, so it can be interesting how they change it up.

Watched around half of the first episode because of this thread, and not hooked. What video game was the mimic box in?

I watched in Japanese with subs and the subs did differ from the Japanese audio.
