Rotten Tomatoes:85% approval rating (120 out of 141 critics like it)
Critics Consensus: Pete's Dragon continues Disney's current live-action winning streak with an update that gives the original a visual overhaul without overwhelming its sweet, soulful charm.
Entertainment Weekly - The Mouse House has skillfully rummaged through its mothballed back catalog and given a 21st-century makeover to one of its lesser, goofier titles, with magical results. B+
New York Daily News - What "Pete's Dragon" lacks in original plot, it makes up for in heart, a satisfying Disney hug delivered with a modern Mowgli and his magical monster. 3/5
Newark Star-Ledger - It may seem absurd that a creature from the Dark Ages could be hiding out just a quick car ride from Portland. But then Lowery takes you into the green hush of those dark woods and you believe. 3/4
Rolling Stone - Thanks to director David Lowery's humanizing magic, this tale of an orphan boy and a dragon is that rare family film you really can take to heart. 3/4
Rotten Tomatoes:83% approval rating (90 out of 109 critics like it)
Critics Consensus: Sausage Party is definitely offensive, but backs up its enthusiastic profanity with an impressively high gag-to-laugh ratio -- and a surprisingly thought-provoking storyline.
Entertainment Weekly - Have you ever been screamed at by a weiner? Welcome to the wildly crass, intermittently brilliant world of Sausage Party — a sort of Secret Life of Groceries exposé that is literally bananas. And also nuts. B
New York Daily News - There are a few points where Rogen and company go way too far, but even in those cases, you may find yourself trying hard not to laugh and failing miserably. "Sausage Party" won't be for everyone, but if nothing else, you'll never look at your groceries the same way again. 4/5
Newark Star-Ledger - Even if you're offended - and perhaps rightfully so - there's another joke coming around the corner to change the subject. And some terrifically wild characters to keep you laughing. 3.5/4
Richard Roeper - Despite all the cursing and envelope-pushing and bat-bleep crazy sexual stuff, Sausage Party isn't mean-spirited. It's just... stupid. But also pretty smart. And funny as hell. 3/4
Rolling Stone - An effed-up funhouse. Rogen, a livewire satirist, dishes out an R-rated cartoon treat that tackles the crisis in the Middle East, the nonexistence of God and the sex lives of supermarket products. 3/4

You seem to have a passion for film and it translates to not only the effort you put into each post, each thread, and each review (which I take as gospel)

- Uh pass.
- I haven't kept track but I think I watch roughly 30 movies at the cinemas in a year.
- Sci-fi, action, superhero, giant monsters are my favorite genres.
- For this year: Rogue One, Kubo and the Two Strings, Doctor Strange, Don't Breathe, The Magnificent Seven, The Girl on the Train, The Accountant, Jack Reacher 2, A Monster Calls, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, Moana, The Founder
- Yeah, I love television shows.
- Thanks.
- Nope. Reviewing is just for fun for me.

Critics Consensus: Hell or High Water offers a solidly crafted, well-acted Western heist thriller that eschews mindless gunplay in favor of confident pacing and full-bodied characters.
Entertainment Weekly - You might have to go back to 1967's Bonnie and Clyde to find a film about bank robbers that feels as of its time as David Mackenzie's Hell or High Water. A
New York Daily News - It's got a dry dusty power, and a dark sense of humor. And when it finally saddles up and really rides, pardner, you'd best get out of its way. 4/5
Chicago Tribune - "Hell or High Water" has one foot in pulp conventions, and the other in some stimulating, morally tricky contemporary answers to those conventions. What the movie has, above all, is a dramatic line, clean and straight. 3.5/4
Arizona Republic - Let's make it easy: If you like sitting in a dark room looking at pictures that move, you should see "Hell or High Water." It's terrific. 5/5
Richard Roeper - You could freeze nearly any frame of Hell or High Water and you'd be looking at a work of art. It's stark and breathtaking and gorgeous to behold. 4/4
Rolling Stone - Hot damn, this one's a goodie - a mesmerizing, modern-day western that moves with the coiled intensity of a rattlesnake ready to spring. 3.5/4
I liked it , thought it was thoughtful remake of the original. The Kid Actor playing Pete ( Oaks Fegely) was pretty good , you actually believe he has a love for a big ole CGI dragon. The Dragon looked gorgeous, impressive considering this only cost about 65 mil. Bryce Dallas Howard gave a nice mother vibe and Robert Redford was good in a small roll. Wes Bentley and Karl Urban were just there , their roles could have been interchangeable or plugged in with any generic actor to be honest. Solid flick.
SUICIDE SQUAD Still No. 1; SAUSAGE PARTY Beats PETE'S DRAGON with $33.6M
David Ayer's much-debated Suicide Squad may have stayed No. 1 in its second outing, but the true hero of the late summer box-office barbeque was Sausage Party, which came in ahead of predictions to score the best opening for an R-rated comedy in at least a year with $33.6 million from 3,103 theaters.
Originality paid off big time for Sausage Party in a season otherwise dominated by a slew of sequels and remakes that have disappointed.
Case in point: Disney's CG/live-action hybrid Pete's Dragon, an update of the studio's 1977 film, opened to a subdued $21 million-$22 million from 3,702 locations despite being the first new family offering since July. At the same time, the film cost less than most Disney offerings at $65 million. Pete's Dragon earned a glowing A CinemaScore, as well as strong reviews
Overall, Suicide Squad claimed the weekend crown with $43.8 million from 4,255 theaters — a 67 percent drop from the $133.7 million collected last weekend. It's one of the biggest declines for a studio superhero movie, and for Warner Bros. and DC, it's deja vu all over again after Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice tumbled 69 percent earlier this year in its second weekend.
That doesn't mean Suicide Squad is a slouch. The movie has now earned $465.4 million worldwide, including $222.9 million domestically and $242.5 million overseas, where it took in another $58.7 million over the weekend.
Sausage Party, which cost a modest $19 million to make, is a needed boost for Sony and another win for Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures, which developed the project on behalf of producing duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (This Is the End, The Interview). Comparisons are difficult since there haven't been a slew of R-rated animated comedies; in 1999, South Park — Bigger, Longer and Uncut debuted to $11.3 million ($19.3 million when adjusting for ticket-price inflation).

Went to go see Pete's dragon last night with my 4 year old daughter.
The story telling in the second act bored her and she started moving around.
My thoughts:
The lighting was too dark but It made the CGI hairy dragon-dog more tolerable.
I liked the jungle book a lot butternut I still rate it a 7/10.
Edit:
I didn't even know, going in. that Wes Bentley, Urban, Redford were in it.

This was very well crafted. It taps into Japanese lore and it looks gorgeous. The Voice acting is very good in this , as Art Parkinson ( Kubo) and Charlize Theron have wonderful chemistry that stands out even with voice acting. There is nice slight of hand with the characters , that I liked , but there wasa build up to what it lead to and I think it makes the story have a well crafted arc. I recommend it.
I heard from a reliable source, but I doubt many of you would consider reliable in reguards to films, that he recieved an early screener of Ben-Hur and it is very very good.
He was so impressed, he re-watched acouple action scenes.
Solid @ GearSolidMetal. Read the reviews for it on rotten tomatoes just to see the shit they give out. Seriously fuck that site. Won't ever know how that place became the "legit" source for reviews. Bunch of paid pansys that are probably Hollywood writers. If you're reading this RT. Fuck you!
