Just came back from Zoolander 2. Trust me guys, it was really terrible. I'm a big fan of dumb comedies and the first Zoolander is hilarious, but this is one of the most blatant cash-grabs I ever seen. There's a few scenes where me and my boys just looked at each other and cringed hard, I'm talking Epic Movie, Disaster Movie level bad. The whole theater was silent for the entirety of the movie, not a single audible laugh was heard during the whole screening.
Director: Robert Eggers (feature film directorial debut)
Cast: Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, and Kate Dickie
Synopsis: New England, 1630: William and Katherine lead a devout Christian life, homesteading on the edge of an impassible wilderness, with five children. When their newborn son mysteriously vanishes and their crops fail, the family begins to turn on one another. 'The Witch' is a chilling portrait of a family unraveling within their own fears and anxieties, leaving them prey for an inescapable evil.

If you are watching a pirated copy of Deadpool (I'm assuming since you posted this while halfway through the movie), it might explain why the film didn't connect with you. One of the reasons why Deadpool has been a success is the audience reaction/participation in the theaters as it adds to the enjoyment of the film. Comedies tend to have better reaction when watched with a group of people.

It was okay Biopic for the legendary Jesse Owens . As far as comparable movies about black athletes and the obstacles of racism in their era's it is pretty much similar to The Express (Ernie Davis Biopic ) and 42 ( Jackie Robinson Biopic ) a key factor the separates the 3 though is that Chadwick Boseman is the best lead actor among the 3 movies and his screen precense stands out . Stephen James as Owens is not bad but he is rather bland but is saved by the good chemistry he has with Jason Sudekis who does a nice job in this. A little factor that does make Race different than the other two is he Shadow of Nazi Germany and the famed 1936 Olympic games to include a moment that has become somewhat of a myth tied to that games. In the end the movie was entertaining enough but nothing special.

Not saying that it automatically makes the film good, just saying there's a chance it would have helped a person enjoy the movie a bit more. Watching it in a theater sort of amplifies the enjoyment level.
Majority of the posters seemingly had a great time at the theaters. Here's a few of their testimonials:
I saw it. The 3 people I went with laughed their arses off as did I. I normally get fidgety after 45 mins or so and I didn't once. The titles to the credits. Absolute pure fun all the way through. Loved it.
I saw it again last night, this time with my girlfriend and a packed audience. This time I sat back and watched it for everything that it was trying to be. I must say, the second time was the charm. I don't know if it was the audience participation or how much my girlfriend enjoyed it, but Deadpool went down better the second time around for sure. I stick by a lot of what I originally said, but Deadpool was just plain fun. It lived within its realms, didn't try to be too serious or too corny, and it just plain worked. I went with a 7/10 before, but I'm changing that to 8/10.
I saw Deadpool in a packed theatre on a Tuesday at 1:30 PM, and the audience was laughing hysterically the whole way through; it was one of the better theatre experiences I've had.
Rotten Tomatoes:88% approval rating (113 out of 128 critics like it)
Critics Consensus: As thought-provoking as it is visually compelling, The Witch delivers a deeply unsettling exercise in slow-building horror that suggests great things for debuting writer-director Robert Eggers.
Entertainment Weekly - What makes this chillingly creepy little black-magic folk tale work so beautifully is its evocative sense of time and place ... Well, that and composer Mark Korven's unsettling soundtrack full of screechy, dissonant strings. A-
Arizona Republic - With incredible attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to the world he has created, Eggers slowly, surely builds tension until it's almost unbearable. And that's delightful, if you're a horror fan. It's a terrific film. 4/5
USA Today - The first great film of 2016 is a horror flick with Puritans, possessed kids, naked forest women and a haunting goat named Black Phillip. 3.5/4
Rolling Stone - Building his film on the diabolical aftershocks of Puritan repression, Eggers raises The Witch far above the horror herd. He doesn't need cheap tricks. Eggers merely directs us to look inside. Be warned: It'll scare the hell out of you. 3.5/4
CinemaBlend.com - Gloriously directed and constructed by first-timer Robert Eggers, The Witch becomes increasingly creepy and unsettling with each passing frame. Even beyond its audacious final shot. One of the early contenders for the best film of 2016. 5/5
Rotten Tomatoes:61% approval rating (53 out of 87 critics like it)
Critics Consensus: Race is nowhere near as thrillingly fleet or agile as its subject, but the story -- and a winning central performance from Stephan James -- are enough to carry it over the finish line.
Entertainment Weekly - The title is on-the-nose but rather fitting for the story of Jesse Owens, the black track-and-field athlete who stunned the world by winning four gold medals at the 1936 Olympics in Adolf Hitler's Berlin ... B
CinemaBlend.com - An inspiring - even if sometimes uneven - film, Race addresses topical ideas of racial bigotry by treating them as irrelevant in the grander scheme of things. 3/5
Richard Roeper - "Race" tells the story of a brave and gifted and determined man who accomplished great feats during a pivotal moment in world history - but it's a by-the-numbers sports biopic with little nuance and a penchant for saccharine-soaked dramatic moments. 2/4
Rolling Stone - Director Stephen Hopkins plods when he needs to sprint, but Jesse Owens is a great movie subject. His triumph at the 1936 Olympics left Hitler to suck it up and watch a black man shatter his cuckoo theories of an Aryan master race. 2.5/4
James Berardinelli - The bare necessities are there, the performances are competent, and there are some strong moments but Race suffers from a lack of ambition. It's too safe and that quality mutes its impact and limits its ability to be more than a history lesson. 2.5/4
Rotten Tomatoes:58% approval rating (40 out of 69 critics like it)
Critics Consensus: Risen benefits from a lighter tone than many faith-based productions, as well as a unique take on the Greatest Story Ever Told and a terrific turn from star Joseph Fiennes.
Entertainment Weekly - Risen is more entertaining than Bible-adjacent stories are usually allowed to be. The action sequences, such as Clavius’ opening battle with Jewish rebels, are visceral on a near-Game of Thrones level. B-
New York Daily News - Reynolds' gets many things right: the blasted look of the desert, the dusty provincial look of a far-flung Roman outpost. And the story he tells is both serious and modest. 3/5
Washington Post - Viewers already well-versed in the greatest story ever told might find their interest piqued by the filmmakers' unconventional take. It's unlikely, however, that "Risen" will preach to anyone outside the choir. 2/4
Richard Roeper - Fiennes sticks with the brooding, stoic performance, even when Clavius is undergoing some major changes. It's not his best work. 2/4
CinemaBlend.com - Not perfect by any means, Risen should be a welcome addition for viewers with an affinity for both Christianity and cinema, and has the potential to reach a broad, more mainstream audience. 2.5/5
DEADPOOL Bedevils RISEN and THE WITCH With $55 Million
Deadpool easily won the battle for heaven and earth at the North American box office in its second outing, earning a sizable $55 million from 3,277 theaters to trounce biblical resurrection tale Risen and the demonic-laced The Witch.
On Saturday, Ryan Reynolds' audacious superhero movie raced past the $200 million mark, its ninth day in release and faster than any R-rated title in history, for a domestic total of $235.4 million through Sunday.
Overseas, Deadpool earned $85 million in its second outing for a foreign cume of $256.3 million and stunning worldwide haul of $491.7 million. The movie is now destined to become the top-R rated title in history, eclipsing The Matrix Reloaded ($742.1 million), not accounting for inflation.
Deadpool's big second weekend has given it the push it needed to pass 300 as the highest-grossing R-rated comic book movie of all time. Deadpool has already become the highest-grossing X-Men film of all time in North America, surpassing X-Men: The Last Stand's $234.3 million.
Among the new openings in North America, Risen did the most, earning $11.8 million from 2,915 locations to claim one of the top debuts ever for a faith-based title after The Passion of the Christ ($83.8 million), Son of God ($25.6 million) and Heaven Is for Real ($24 million).
The Witch placed No. 4 with $8.7 million from 2,046 theaters — the top opening in A24's young history. The R-rated horror film, endorsed by the Satanic Temple, opens a little over a year after it made waves at the Sundance Film Festival, earning first time feature director Robert Eggers the directing award in the dramatic category.
They're really pushing that Vikander actress on us pretty hard. Sure, she's adorable and I want to pet her and feed her tako su, but she's not a very good actress. IMO. Rachel Weisz on the other hand...
