What is your most anticipated film of 2016?

After viewing the trailer, I am high on this right now.

I'm tired of cape shit so that disqualifies most of the poll options. Assassin's Creed and Warcraft are video game adaptations so I have little faith in them. Bourne is cool but I haven't watched since Ultimatum and I have the feeling its getting played out and I don't care for Star Wars.

Watching the Knight of Cups trailer high as hell before The Big Short might've been as great as The Big Short itself so I'm excited for that. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm actually really excited for Kung Fu Panda 3. The first two, especially the second film, were pretty great. Honestly the 2nd film might be one of, if not the, best animated film from the major animation studios in the last ten years but that said I'm a big fan of kung fu stuff and Gary Oldman so of course I'm partial to that film.

I love the first Kung Fu Panda, the second was just pretty good for me. But both films' animation and visuals are just gorgeous.

If we're talking about the best animated film from a Hollywood studio, I still rank a few Pixar films above Kung Fu Panda. But Panda is up there among my top ten US animated films.

Like I said I'm partial to crazy kung fu stuff. Also I'm a big fan of Gary Oldman and seeing him in a comedic animated film was a novelty yet he still brought his trademark villainy to animation and that was amazing.

Also I've increasingly become partial to Dreamworks films in general. Generally speaking Pixar is considered the superior studio and I can see why but I think there are aspects of Dreamworks that are underrated. In the KFP they showed excellent comedic timing that allows them to tread much darker territory because throughout the film because they can keep it light and kid friendly with the jokes. Think about it, the villain in KFP 2 is a genocidal dictator bent on world domination and yet throughout his interactions with the Soothsayer and the head of the wolf pack allow him to remain a comedic figure.

Also I think Dreamworks is able to pull off some visually stunning scenes. In the How to Train your Dragon movies the flying scenes are a visual feast and the fight scenes in the KFP, particularly the bridge fight in the first film, are excellent action scenes given the genre the studio is working with. The scores for those movies are phenomenal as well.

Dreamworks doesn't overtly tug at ones' heartstrings or deal with obvious themes that can appeal to adults and children but I think there's a lot of attention to detail there that gets missed by both adults and children.

I still favor the Pixar library but DreamWorks Animation has closed the gap between them in the last few years. Have you seen The Croods yet? Very underrated movie. Great replay value. Shrek, KFP and HTTYD remain my top 3 favortie films of theirs.

Walt Disney Animation has also been churning out some hits as well like Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Tangled and Big Hero 6. This year they have some potential good ones like Zootopia and Moana.

If you haven't seen it yet, check out KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS. It's one of my most anticipated animated film this year.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Beats AVATAR to Become No. 1 Film of All Time in North America

It's official: J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the No. 1 grossing film of all time in North America, not accounting for inflation.

On Wednesday, the Disney and Lucasfilm blockbuster is overtaking the $760.5 million earned by James Cameron's Avatar. Force Awakens — which grossed an estimated $8 million on Tuesday for a domestic total of $758.2 million — achieved the milestone in only 20 days in release, a remarkable feat.

Released in December 2009, Avatar grossed nearly $750 million in its original, seven-month run, plus another $10 million-plus when it was rereleased in theaters.

However, Force Awakens has a long way to go before eclipsing the $2.78 billion earned worldwide by Avatar. Through Monday, its worldwide tally was $1.54 billion, a staggering number that doesn't include China, where Force Awakens lands on Jan. 9.

Many box office observers suggest the Star Wars reboot will ultimately gross $2.2 billion-$2.4 billion globally, eclipsing Cameron's Titanic ($2.19 billion) to become the No. 2 film of all time, not accounting for inflation.

Only two film have earned $700 million or more in North America; Avatar and Force Awakens.

I do think Pixar has the overall better library but as you said as of late I think they've dropped the ball and Dreamworks has gotten better. I really liked Wreck-it Ralph and Tangled but I didn't care for Frozen and Big Hero 6. Frozen was a bit contrived and I guess I can't hold it against them too much since they seemed to have knocked it out of the park with their target demographics which is what really matters but I have a hard time seeing how anyone outside that demo enjoys it much. The music was lame and the plot wasn't particularly great and the twist was predictable. BH6 was even worse, one of the most uninspiring movies I have seen in a long time. I really liked the setting of San Frantokyo but the rest of the film was so predictable. The whole time I was waiting for the film to get interesting and it never did.

Never saw The Croods but I might. I just saw the Kubo and the Two Strings teaser and it looks awesome.

Christian bale doesn't say a word. I am sure someone is going to come along and give it 10/10 cause it was transcendent or something.

It was fucking nothing.

Don't understand why you need to be ashamed. It's not you wasted your ticket watching Twilight or something like that. And if you enjoyed Daddy's Home, then it was worth it.

Frozen was so-so for me. Just above average.

Big Hero 6 was formulaic and lacked some edginess. The team dynamics could have used more tension and friction. Plus more screen time for the other teammates. But all in all, still enjoyed it.

It has a few solid laughs scattered throughout, but holy shit, whoever they hired to play Will Ferrel's boss at his radio station is the worst actor I've ever seen.

...Also someone on the writer's staff needs to be tried for Crimes Against Repeatedly Giving Hannibal Buress Lines That Have No Punchline, Or Significance To Anything Whatsoever

They gave Buress a recurring bit where he asks people if they have ___ item in their fridge, and then people retrieve it for him, and he just walks out of the scene.
