Swaggering into theaters across North America, Straight Outta Compton beat all expectations, grabbing an estimated $56.1 million

I really want to watch Man from UNCLE. I'm a big Guy Ritchie fan and I hope it lives up to my expectations.

I looked up Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and both were in the mid 70s on RT so hopefully this is on the same level of those (in which case I'll love it).

STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON Powers to $26 Million 2nd Weekend

Straight-Outta-Compton-082315-Dragonlord.jpg

Straight Outta Compton continues to feel the love at the box office in its second weekend, earning another $26.8 million in North American theaters. Universal's N.W.A biopic earned a huge $60.2 million in its first outing. Three R-rated films — a horror sequel, a video game adaptation and a stoner action-comedy — all failed to meet their projected numbers this weekend, placing below both Compton and Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation, which is in its fourth week in theaters.

Compton has already passed $100 million after just two weeks at the box office, hitting an estimated $111.5 million through this weekend. A smart marketing campaign, good reviews and strong word-of-mouth are to thank for the studio's latest success. Compton's second weekend win marks Universal’s 13th weekend atop the North American box office.

Blumhouse's Sinister 2, after scaring up a solid $850,000 from 2,100 locations Thursday night, earned $10.6 million for the weekend. Hitting 2,758 theaters this weekend, the sequel is falling behind the tally of the original film, which starred Ethan Hawke and debuted to $18 million in October 2012. It went on to earn $77.7 million worldwide.

Hitman: Agent 47, which earned $600,000 from 2,500 locations Thursday night, took home $8.2 million this weekend. The Fox film is an adaptation of a popular video game, starring Homeland’s Rupert Friend as an elite assassin. It won't catch the number earned by the 2007 adaptation starring Timothy Olyphant, which earned $13 million when it debuted in November that year, and went on to take in just under $100 million worldwide.

Lionsgate's American Ultra is also off to a quiet start as well. After taking in $425,000 Thursday night, the action-comedy earned around $5.5 million in its debut. Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart star in American Ultra, an action-comedy about a stoner and mini-mart employee (Eisenberg) who discovers he was was trained as a secret agent. The Adventureland reunion is opening in 2,778 locations.

Sunday bike ride got rained out yesterday so we all got blazed and went for a triple header at the local theater:

The Man from U.N.C.L.E.: sort of meh - but was super high the first two hours of the day
Straight out of Compton: really solid, Cube's son especially - perfect amount of stoned to enjoy
The End of the Tour: enjoyed it but was losing my stone and wasn't the right film to sober up to. Fat Segel was nice, Eisenberg convincing too. Could have used more tits, though.

American Ultra was decent. Its basically a stoner version of Bourne Identity.
