Dragon Ball vs Dragon Ball Z

How have you gone this long without seeing dragon ball z?

Its a tie between The Frieza Saga and the Cell Saga. I liked the cat and mouse of Namek and for Gohan and Krillen while having to wait on Goku even joining forces with Vegeta just to survive, and of course Goku's super saiyan turn and his mockery of Frieza at the end. For the Cell Saga it felt like over the top Scifi at times, Time Travel , Androids , Genetic Monsters, and I like how it flowed.

I would have to say Frieza saga, I agree that the Cell saga felt drawn out as well as the Buu saga.

I remember going home after school to watch it. If you like 8 minute scenes that should've lasted about 10 seconds you my friend are in for a treat.

The Frieza (sp?) saga was pretty awesome.

Goku you've got to go namek is going to blow up in 2 minutes.......2 weeks later they're still fucking on namek.

Thanks to the power of the interwebs you can watch the episodes back to back and it really doesn't seem as drawn out as I remembered it.

To be fair, that's just in the anime. In the manga it was A LOT shorter than that. Anime studios tend to put in a lot of filler and flashbacks in order to fill up the episode as much as possible.

Same here when it comes to favorite sagas. But even though Z has Vegeta, the Saiyan race, and overpowered alien overlords, I still feel like Dragon Ball was written better and had more interesting characters and development.

With Z there was alot of pressure on Toriyama to churn out chapters so he kinda rushed things and sacrificed some of his better story telling traits from Dragon Ball.

Yeah, I always wondered why there was so much filler and power-up BS.

And 25 minute pose-offs with intermittent flashbacks

Also the show would catch up to the manga a few times and they couldn't continue until more was written, the movies were made as a non canon filler until more was written and the same with the garlic jr saga. They needed to give akira toriyama more time to write more shizz.

The show/manga was meant to end after the Cell Games but there was so much popularity the buu saga came about and you can tell from the serious drop in overall quality and sense Akira didn't really want to continue but gotta get dat ca$h

I like DB better, but DBZ isn't far behind and a definite must watch.
