Today it's an African creole/pidgin language and actually incorporated some of the speech patterns and words used by the enslaved people of South Africa. Besides, since when is speaking a language with an arbitrarily approved "provenance" one of the requirements for being a real citizen of a given continent or region?

What does that say about all of the United States? By your logic to be considered a real American one should only be speaking the languages of the original American Indian tribes.

I'm not "acting like" anything, I'm just capable of viewing geopolitical events with a little more nuance than a five-year-old.

English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese are the languages of the colonizers of North & South America. Are you going to walk up to Brandon Moreno and tell him to speak the proper language of his Aztec ancestors or else he isn't a real Central American? Rounding back to Africa, like it or not, Dricus is not a colonizer. He did not take part in apartheid, as heinous a practice as it was. Do I find some of his comments rather tasteless and tone-deaf in light of South Africa's recent history? Yes. But that doesn't change the fact that he is African.

Botswana is an African nation. Its one and only official language is English. If you met a person from Botswana who only spoke English, would you accuse them of being a fake African on this basis? Because there are a lot of African countries which list European languages as official/national languages of their own countries, including Afrikaans which is actually more African than those languages because it's actually an Africanized pidgin/creole variant of Dutch in the first place! So how about you don't try to gatekeep the very idea of language and act like you know better than the African nations in question and those who live there? Or are you going to continue being deliberately obtuse?
