I got a permaban from R/NBA many years ago because there was a thread where everyone was calling a Shaq a bitch and a giant pussy, which I thought was hilarious since Reddit's user base is essentially Tumblr and Portland people. I supported such action in the subreddits i visit. Primary one i use hasnt enacted this.

I have never understood reddit, it's like some early 2000s forums, except in some meaningful ways much harder to use. And you cannot take more than few steps without setting off someone's egotrip with moderatorial powers. Once talked to a chap who took great pride in being a moderator on some economics related forum on reddit. One of the most dislikeable people I have ever had to talk to.

Not that I understand Twitter either. Especially when someone posts a discussion with replies, no idea whatsoever which message is reply to which. Once thought about concept of "twiturl" where the whole message would be legible form the url, so you never would need to lick the links. But it was too hard to monetize to work. Would save a ton of troubles with bullshit UI shenanigans, though. But - especially if we had means to embed pics and videos to the url bar - it would be cool.

I do understand forums, and other pre-social media things much better.

This makes sense, Liberals/Democrats have been furious at Musk ever since he said he was going to crack down on child sexual abuse material on Twitter/X. At first they were just laughing at him for buying an overpriced social media site, but once he cracked down on the pe*o material democrats have been trying whatever they can to ruin him. The democrats started Bluesky so they could continue sharing their favorite content. Reddit is one of the biggest cesspools on the internet and is 99% leftist trash. it makes 4chan users look like Mensa members. The funny thing is, is that this will just drive down traffic on reddit. No sane person wants to be associated with Bluesky and those that went on Reddit for normal things will just go directly to X to get their information. This will actually increase traffic for Musk as it will just cut out the middle man for Reddit users who did not have an X account.
