Social Down goes Kissinger

seriously though, I won’t pretend he’s a great guy or whatever, but the reaction from leftists over a highly successful diplomat dying at 100 is sooo funny, the guy had by all measures a great life and still there’s people like “heh, rest in piss bozo, you got what you deserve!”
this is like being upset people are glad hitler died. his counsel and direct actions are responsible for the violent bloody deaths of at least 4 million civilians in various countries.

everyone has plans but god decide at end

i found out about it from reddit and the comments are almost unanimous rejoicing.
I always heard he was some sort of vile war criminal but how many of these people who are rejoicing know much more than what I know? I don't know much, wouldn't doubt it though, but I won't be rejoicing.

they read the Bourdain quote.
i think that's it for 90% of them.

Meh. I have no opinion on the guy as I never looked into his tenure in US politics nor did I know him. I've only seen the same "he's evil" or "he was important in shaping policy" or such that others may have.

Everybody dies and so few live past 90 so I'll simply say that dude had a long and fairly public life which is an accomplishment regardless of how you view him. He probably lived the life he wanted whether that was good or bad for everyone he impacted I can't say.

Anthony Bordain? why would he hate kissinger, did he send his food back?
“You will never again be able to open a newspaper and read about that treacherous, prevaricating, murderous scumbag sitting down for a nice chat with Charlie Rose or attending some black-tie affair for a new glossy magazine without choking,” Bourdain wrote in his book.

“Witness what Henry did in Cambodia ― the fruits of his genius for statesmanship ― and you will never understand why he’s not sitting in the dock at The Hague next to [Serbian President Slobodan] Milošević.”

- Bourdain\

hmm, watched the docu on Bourdain, that's the way he seemed with any topic he took serious interest in, that was with fanatic extremism. Funny that a chef should say something like that, not that being a chef disqualifies him necesarrily but it's kinda odd, but he was kinda odd.

The reason people are celebrating is they've been looking forward to this for years. "Why is Henry Kissinger still alive" has been a common trope in recent years. Its probably the most anticipated death of modern times(no one really hated the Queen because she stood for nothing).

At the same time the fact capitalist leaders can live so long in luxury free as a bird is something we should be ashamed of. Hard to celebrate about the death of someone who outdid the average lifeexpectancy by 25 years like we somehow won. We did not(I mean the Vietnamese did and that's wonderful but you know what I mean).

No one treats Kissinger like hitler. What’s that thing people say, godwins law? The first person to bring up hitler loses the argument?

Anyways, it’s not a “I’m happy he’s dead”, cause you can be happy he’s dead without coming across as just resentful, it’s acting as if he finally got his just desserts by dying at age 100, long past the average lifespan, having lived a very successful life

if Hitler survived and fled to Argentina like some say, then died at age 86 in his sleep would you have said “hah, he got what he deserved” by going out in probably the best way?

He did recognize his error about immigration before the end.

this is a fascinating hour, watched the whole thing. Not necessarily because of Kissinger, but everything else highlighting we are all just on a wheel of time that keeps repeating itself.

In the clip, via guests calling in, they talked about:

speech censorship in the UK.

Andrew Cuomo preparing for his governor run (just last week, articles about Cuomo trying to repair his career and possibly run for mayor).

A, at the time current, conflict between Israel and Palestine.

That the result of the cold war ending might not have been the end of communism, and the end result specifically of the indo-China conflict(s) may not be readily apartment even at that time of the interview, and that communism still lives on there. Hitchens even mentioning the result of the french revolution is not yet known. Meanwhile just a week or so ago, our elites were kissing the ass of Xi and the CCP

Most interesting, is how much Hitchens looks and sounds like Elon Musk, if Musk let his hair plugs grow up and was a big alcoholic

For me it’s this quote.

Military men are just dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy.
