Doo Ho Choi came back to Korea and had an interview with the Korean media.
Here is the excerpt that I translated. I'm sorry for the poor quality of it. English is not my mother tongue.
Q: You have become a fighter who receives attention from the UFC. How do you feel about it?
A: I want to be a champ. My goal is to have matches which stir people’s blood.
Q: When you walk to the octagon, you don’t seem nervous but very excited. Why is that?
A: There are lots of fighters who work very hard to fight in the UFC. I’m really happy and feel good to fight in the UFC. I eagerly looked forward to the last match because I had thoroughly prepared for it.
Q: You are always confident. What’s the secret?
A: The game plans made by my trainers and coaches are perfect and I practice very hard. That’s the reason.
Q: There haven’t been any champs from Asian countries in the UFC so far. Among Asian fighters who, do you think, is the closest to becoming a champ?
A: I am. I am very confident about it. I’ll become a champ no matter what happens.
Q: There are many excellent fighters in your weight division like Conor Mcgregor. What do you think about it?
A: I’m not sure if Conor can come down to the featherweight division again because he already fights in the heavier (welterweight) division. Anyway, a champion should be the strongest man in the division. He should defeat any fighters.
Q: Have you seen the match between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar?
A: I saw it on TV at my hotel. Both fighters were very good and strong. But I thought that there is no reason to believe I can’t defeat them. Mr. Yang (headcoach) also said I can beat them.
Q: Some say you are “the second Korean Zombie”. Do you agree with that?
A: I am a fan of Jung Chan-sung and we are very close to each other. It’s an honor that I can be compared with him. However, I want to have a modifier which exclusively belongs to me rather than being called “the second Korean Zombie“ because he and I fight in the same division anyway.
Q: Jon Jones failed the drug test. What’s your opinion on fighters’ taking drugs?
A: I haven’t taken any drugs. I wish other fighters would do the same. The more thorough the drug test becomes, the more favorable the situation becomes to those who do not take drugs. I hope fighters dependent on drugs will be weeded out soon.
