The above is the title to a video from the Regent University School of Law. While much of this lecture might first seem counter intuitive to some, the points made seem extremely well thought out and quite clear. It was uploaded a few years back, so if this has been done already, I apologize in advance.

Regent Law Professor James Duane gives viewers startling reasons why they should always exercise their 5th Amendment rights when questioned by government officials. Download his article on the topic at http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf....

I had two coked up cops almost plant shit in my car. I got out of the situation because the lieutenant on duty was my buddy from the gym I referred to my dad who got him 20k for a b.s. fall. I shouldn't even be talking about this, but it was my buddy who told me those guys get "fired up" for their shift, and do shady crap. He said that wasn't everybody there, but these two sucked.

Cops lie. My trial skills professor was a retired state police detective. It' one of the first thing he told us.. Get cops families, and teachers off the jury, they are stupid and think cops don't lie.

I'm not anti-cop, btw. They are better than the cons.

File this under never trust anyone with power over you.

If we had a libertarian type of society this wouldn't be a problem because all the bad cops would be weeded out via the market.

Sows hostility against police.

Gets mad when police act hostile back towards people acting hostile towards them.

I've had a cop try to plant coke on me as well. I was having trouble finding my registration so there were a lot of papers etc on my passenger seat. The seat was previously completely empty of clutter. The 2nd cop on scene reached into my passenger window and pulled out a small bag of coke. I asked where he found that and he said in that clutter on your seat. I got angry and replied bullshit that seat was empty a second ago and he saw it! The cop who was at my driver window gave the other guy a look like "really idiot?"

My heart was fuckin racing

different culture hard to judge

How does it sow hostility? Are police that fragile that the mere exercising of rights by a citizens is deemed to be hostile? If anything not talking to the police is just taking their own word for it; anything you say can and will be used against you in court.

So you were talking about the video even though you didn't even watch it? Oh boy...

I didn't watch it either but only because I've seen it before, years earlier. Its a lawyer explaining why you shouldn't and he runs through a number of different scenarios with different assumptions and argues why, in all of them, not talking to the police is always the best option.
