If reditors knew this 40% of their advice replies would be gone. Also comments I gotten here just a bit. I mean why gas your arms if you are out of range. There's something also about the looks you give your opponent / partner. Hands up tight can signal it's their turn to hit but you might acutally lie to them and want them to open up. Hands down can also mean different things. Strategically and technically. Just thought I share what the WW goat had to say about this. It's a interesting point. If you look at Poatan his guard is pretty open while exchanging. On the other side Remy Bonjasky always glues his big gloves to the side of his head. The answer is - it depends. Not always yes or always no.

I’m trying to be in range 90% of the time so besides when I’m trying to style my hands is upppp mah boi
Yep but some guys think if they outta range they gotta be tight and burn their shoulders away. I just do it all naturaly. It comes from habbit. Each their own. Your style your body.

I'm convinced that the Diaz brothers are able to throw volume by resting their shoulders out of range.
100%.
There's a deliberate emphasis on piling up accurate shots with less on them before mixing in more pop and more pressure.
The gomi fight, you could just see how fucked gomi was once he'd gassed out from throwing heat
Holloway and Bobby Green have similar styles

I’ve started telling my fighters to keep their elbows in front of their body. Most guards we utilize need this to be effective. The hand position becomes largely irrelevant from there
