No, he was brought in to do commentary on the action. That was "the main reason" for having commentary.

How they DO commentary, is another topic. Some are hired as color, some play by play, but DC was handed a job. He openly said he took the job because he wanted to do PRO WRESTLING commentary.

All the fighters that ended up in the booth were handed the job. They were not seasoned in commentary, and seem to naturally suffer from this on the mic. You might believe they are TOLD to talk about themselves, but it's not true.
