I'm baffled by Sherdog's overwhelming support of Jones in this one. This fight is going to be very close - I have it a 50/50, even slightly in favor of DC, and here's why:

1. Anyone who says Jones "dominated" the first fight needs to rewatch it or check their bias. It was a close fight, and Jones was at the top of his game. DC, imo, was not, and still managed to take some rounds and be effective against Jones.

2. DC is in a different place mentally. While Jones was off rebuilding his life and image, DC conquered Rumble and Gus (Jones' toughest fight). This gives him the confidence to know he is truly special at 205. The first time around, DC was blabbering about "teach me how to lose" and was extremely nervous leading up to and during the fight, by his own admission. Now, he has many fewer questions; he knows how strong Jones is, knows how hard he hits, and knows that he can hang with the very best at 205.

3. DC has had Cain in camp this time around. Not having his most vital training partner to push him daily was a bane previously. This is a major advantage in my books, and one that cannot be understated.

4. Jones was at the top of his game in their last outing; this time around, it's anyone's guess as to how he'll look. Imo, the performance he gave against OSP does not indicate a Jones at the top of his game, which makes sense given the layoff. Cormier would have likely won that night. Regardless, it's reasonable to assume he won't be firing on all cylinders like he was the first time around. This simply being a question rather than a certainty is an advantage for DC.

All in all, due to the above, I have this fight being an all-out war. If you put a gun to my head, I'd favor DC, and to even favor anyone over Jones is a huge statement. He has the power and tenacity to get inside and cause some real damage, and the wrestling to avoid being completely tossed around by Jones. If there was any crack in his armor, it was his cardio, but the renewed mental fortitude and Cain in-camp will absolutely help shore that up. I am insanely excited to see how this one turns out, and despite the thread title, welcome any discussion.

DC is rich and set for life now. There's way less pressure on him.

We will have to wait and see, bc, well, we don't know.

So is Jones. He's also the arguable greatest in his sport.

I didn't read your post, but I hope you're right. I want it to be a dog fight and if DC's smart, he'll make it one. I want him to win.

The 1st fight was "close".
The first fight was close. Go back & rewatch if you disagree. Jones didn't start to win it clearly till the eye poke. Not trying to hate on Jones or imply anything but that's just the truth. I went back & rewatched & it is a very competitive kick boxing match that Jon is narrowly winning till Jon lands an eye poke.

The first fight wasn't a beatdown but it wasn't close either, Jones was 1 round away from a 5-0 shutout

The OSP fight says nothing about how DC/Jones II would have gone that night, DC doesn't have the physical attributes that OSP has and that might have given Jones problems and OSP doesn't fight nearly the same way or pace as DC does, Jones coasted against OSP because he could, DC would have pushed more and Jones would have pushed back (as he always does).

It will be 9+ months since DC's last fight by the time we get to UFC 200, he's coming off and injury and it will be him dealing with rust.

DC will lose...again, by a wider margin or possibly get finished late.

Anyone picking a DC win, is hoping. The smart $ is on Jones for the win. It always has been.

I'm comparing their current state of minds to the first fight. Jones had the advantage in that regard. Now they're even.

Enough with the fucking "eye poking" already...Jesus Christ, I'm not even a Jones fan and this shit gets tired as hell.

Well.... When you eye poke in every fight people are going to talk about it. Sorry. :/

The fight would have been close if it was a 3 round fight, in a 5 round fight how it was close? You could say it was competitive but it wasn`t close! Jones won RD 1 clearly, RD 2 was close but DC won and RD 3 was close and Jones edge it out, RD 4 and 5 all Jones, 49-46...It wasn`t total domination but Jones CLEARLY won that fight.

Well, Jones is a much better fighter, so there's that.

And Jones is much younger than DC. Plus the better fighter.

Well I was gonna make a comment but you said you don't care what anybody says so....I guess I'm out.
