Love how he incorporates MMA in movies, probably best fight director

Ig you havent seen flashpoint with him I highly recommend if you are into action fight movies

he often attends events so that makes sense.

Thats a great fight movie too, I haven't seen any one better than Donnie in directing and executing fights in movies. Hollywood productions are not even close. One with Tom Hardy is ok, but I still like Donnie's filming and perforamnce better.

Donnie Yen is awesome. I've watched his older stuff when I was a kid (15 years or so ago) and back then I didn't even know his name.

There was a movie that came out a while back called Clash with Johnny Nguyen and Veronica Ngo. It was Vietnamese and I don't know who directed the fight choreography, but it had some very nice grappling moments in it as well.

I'm usually more of a fan of the traditional fancy/highly choreographed fight scenes when it comes to martial arts films, but it's always great to see some MMA incorporated in the choreography as well.

*edit* Here's the trailer for Clash

Thanks man, I haven't seen that one, will check it out.
It is pretty cool how choreography evolved from times of Blood Sport and Kickboxer to nowadays.

I love Donnie Yen, the first two Ip Man films were great and his fight choreography is excellent, however I think he's been trumped by The Raid 1 and 2, those two movies are absolutely incredible with the first film having the best 2 on 1 fight I've ever seen, if you've overlooked them, do yourself a favour and fix that.

"Incorporates MMA" - lmao.

I always admired how John Woo incorporates babies in his films, personally.

He is one with the Force and the Force is with him

Even before that, Hong Kong martial arts movies basically consisted of the guys doing moves but never hitting each other, and when they finally landed a blow, it would kill them.

Bruce Lee actually had a lot to do with choreographing the fight scenes in martial arts films to look more realistic in Asian Cinema... He even had used an armbar in Enter the Dragon

I wrote a paper on John Woo and his use of doves in his films when I was in college.

Yeah, It just my opinion, but what Bruce did was revolutionary to action cinema and martial arts. Was way ahead of his time, like all greats.
