Media Donn Davis says that he wasn't a MMA fan when he started PFL, was just looking to make money

Also Fight Matrix should bill PFL for royalties for how much they mention them, in a very deceptive and false manner

Also love that he just admitted that the main reason to buy Bellator was to just get rid of competition.

I think your title is a little misleading. He didn’t say that did he? I did stop 3 minutes in tbf.

Didn't watch but Donn Davis doesn't have that connection with the MMA fanbase like other promoters usually do (Dana, Coker, Chatri, Sakakibara, Bjorn, etc). None of the content featuring him gets me excited to watch the PFL product. It's a lot of corporate speak with no substance whatsoever and just announcing more season stuff. There's no fire in what he says.

PPV will cost $49.99 in the United States. He should be excited for the money.

I'm not buying it. I bought their PPV last year and it ended up costing almost $57 after tax. It's not even worth $30.

I mean he aint an mma fan now either, he's a businessman. He got into this thinking look at the money UFC makes, maybe theres room for another and we can turn this into something.

Shit its the same with WME/TKO when they bought UFC< they dont care about fighting they care about making money.

Yeah, I could see your point. Thing is, WME is able to make money through Dana's promoting skills and connection with the MMA fans that Donn certainly doesn't have. Donn Davis is too much of a numbers person to create an appealing product to both hardcore and casuals through promotion. The presentation of the PFL is far too sports-y and professional (I know its in the name, lol). There is too much focus on statistics that nobody gives a flying fuck about.

If you watch the PFL there's no investment on bad blood, storylines, entertainment, nothing. All the interviews are just cookie-cutter "I'm gonna win a million dollars and go home to my family". Just white bread, boring sob stories. I understand there's some fans who don't like the "WWE" stuff but that's a very small part of the fanbase. My personal theory is the PFL is seeking to get bought out by the UFC, at least once the antitrust case finishes.

Getting into MMA to make money???????????????????

Outside of the UFC I'm not sure any org has ever made much and many more bleed money. Sounds like the perfect business to get into and make money.

In North America, no, but outside it there are some markets that do thrive without the UFC and such.

Poland is probably the biggest one in terms of a sustainable scene, followed by Russia.

Having said that I'm sure that Donn will make his money even when PFL goes up in flames, so he succeeded in that at least.

Donn Davis kind of reminds me of "Toad" from American Graffiti.
