Pakistan Prime Minister's Office put out a statement directly quoting Trump -- a violation of diplomatic protocol -- in which he glowingly praised Sharif and the great people of Pakistan.

and i quote "Your country is amazing with tremendous opportunities. Pakistanis are one of the most intelligent people. I am ready and willing to play any role you want me to play..."

the reversal of rhetoric contrasts explicitly with what trump had said previously to his supporters.

president rump.

lol.

Is there actually confirmation of this? I mean, it wouldn't be a surprise with his change in tune on Hillary in his victory speech, but I'd still like to see confirmation.

You guys told me that he was a Nazi warlord who was going to nuke the Middle East. Can you get your damn narrative straight and then get back to me?

Also, that tweet is from 2012. Sharif took office in 2013. Clearly the tweet wasn't directed at him.

Jesus Christ Donnie.

I'd like to see confirmation too but, even without it, I don't think it's that big of a deal.

Trump's style has always been...swarmy (maybe schmoozy)? He's the type of guy who tells everyone he meets how wonderful they are, how awesome it is to know them and then he'll go and cut their legs out when they're not paying attention.

From the time.com article:

Let’s start with the obvious. Roughly 96% of the total population of Pakistan is Muslim. In the phone call, President-elect Trump said that “Pakistanis are one of the most intelligent people,” according to the readout. Yet Trump, in December 2015, called for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States”—which would, of course, presumably cover almost all Pakistanis. These two things don’t add up. But that’s all right because this is just a get-to-know-you phone call between two world leaders.

Is this really what liberals consider journalism?

Remember when Trump attacked Clinton for saying different things in public then in private...

Pretty dumb move by Pakistan leaking this, alienating a possible western ally.

That's if the leak is even legit.

Liberals then: OMFG HE IS A TERRIBLE RACIST!!! I BET BEHIND CLOSE DOORS HE SECRETELY SAYS THE N-WORD ALL THE TIME AND HE IS PROBABLY GOING TO NUKE ALL THE PEACEFUL CHILDREN OF THE MIDDLE EAST IF WE DON'T STOP HIM

Liberals now: OMFG HE IS ASS KISSING ALL THE MUSLIMS!!! HE PROBABLY SUCKS MUSLIM COCK BEHIND CLOSED DOORS!!! HE'S GOING TO DO TONS OF NEGOTIATING WITH THE MUSLIMS

guys, this is donald "3 am tweet" trump we are talking about. the pakistan pm released the official transcript unedited.

i think wed know if it wasnt real. he would have denied this as soon as it came out.

does anyone doubt trump has access to media? because this is a massive world wide ridiculing.

We'll see. This is going to be a real examination of Trump's actual deal making skills.

The campaign season taught me that most of Trump's supposed negotiating prowess was largely the result of entering negotiations with a stacked deck, relative to his opposition. He had the money and political connections when opposed to a municipality. He had the deeper pockets when opposed by most contractors. We didn't get a lot of evidence that he can out negotiate people on near equal footing as him.

As President, he's got the best cards but his opposition has far better cards than middle level politicians or small businesses with less than 8 figure bank accounts. We're going to learn how good a dealmaker he really is. Which could go either way for us.
