The previous administration never promised to release anything. As to why they didn't, probably because a combination of the sealed grand jury records and plea agreements made actual criminal indictments unlikely. So the only other reason would be for politics, or just getting every available fact out there regardless of what could be done about it.

But Biden didn't campaign on releasing the Epstein files. And the dems already knew (and lets be honest, so did you guys) that Trump would be implicated in them.
