Dominican Republic - Punta Cana Recommendations

I'm trying to plan a vacation to an all-inclusive resort to Punta Cana. I've never stayed at an all-inclusive resort, but wanted to try one since my last two vacations have been cruises. I'm trying to go April 28 - May 4 (6 nights). This would be a couples getaway. I want to book a package deal and I'm considering Apple Vacations or Funjet.

I'd appreciate any input on Punta Cana Resorts, buying packages from the above sites, and any other tips you have.

If you have stayed at other places such as Jamaica and Punta Cana, which one did you prefer?

Dreams Resort Punta Cana would be my recommendation. Been their twice and always enjoyed my stay. Several great restaurants including all day buffets, bars, and Japanese, Italian, and Mexican restaurants.

Had a Punta Cana vacation a few years ago. All Inclusive at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Resort. The problem is that the trip was a gift, so I can't help you on price comparisons or info on other resorts. I can just give you info from my experience.

I would give the resort a 9/10. Nice private beach, beautiful grounds, good restaurants, very nice golf course, great customer service, very nice rooms, large swimming pools everywhere, easy access to alcohol 24/7, nice casino, and a great spa. I do remember the resort being absolutely massive though, so if you hate walking it's not the resort for you. The benefit of it being so large is that it never felt overcrowded.

And the one recommended excursion I would book would be one of the zip line canopy tours. Damn that was a blast. The one I would stay away from would be the snorkeling tour. We didnt do it, but I remember hearing people say it wasnt that great.

I ended up booking at the Majestic Elegance. It got high ratings on Tripadvisor.
