Dominant win for Buchecha in his MMA debut

Just finished heavyweight kickboxer (and TUF contestant) Anderson Silva via first round north south choke. Early takedown, tons of ground and pound, including knees from north south, then finishes the north south choke.

His grappling translated nicely to MMA. Will be interesting to see how he does against someone with high level takedown defense

Well he was fighting what amounts to a can (gimme match) so not surprising.

Silva hasn't fought mma in what 3-4yrs also coming off two losses in kickboxing.

Not knocking Marcus but he did what was expected.

For an MMA debut opponent they could have found a way easier opponent than Silva.

I'm guessing they couldn't find anyone else. You'd have to be pretty stupid or very confident (or both) to accept a fight with Buchecha if you don't have 5-10 pro fights yet.

Not true. Buchecha was scheduled to fight 3 other guys over this past year, but the fights kept getting cancelled for various reasons. Fourth time's the charm.

And all 3 guys scheduled to fight Buchecha were undefeated at the time of scheduling. (Kane has since lost.)

Those Asian rules, Pride era Buchecha would have been a sight to behold.

The choke was merciful after those knees.

The couple strikes he threw before his takedown we're pretty stiff. His ground obviously is great .
