This is mostly meant for the people who buy PPV's. If you stream or download illegally, I assume that Yoel's weight doesn't change much. For those of you who buy UFC PPV's in your own home: Does the fact that Romero is not eligible to win the MW title make you less likely to order the card? Personally, I was a guaranteed $65 for the UFC to bank on, but now that every outcome results in Whittaker keeping his title, I'm not sure whether I'll pony up or not. Thank God for Colby/RDA or else it would be an automatic "NO" from me.

Are there any other suckers who actually buy PPV's that are having second thoughts about ordering 225?

Ofcourse. No middleweight belt takes a lot away from the event.

Still a solid card.

Should get a discount on the PPV cost.

Hell naw.

When we got folks like Dern Till / McTillie Dern
missing weight by SEVERAL lbs, Yoel missing by LESS than a QUARTER lb is a joke nowadays.

Do I wish he would have made it? Of COURSE.

But compared to a lot of folks lately, he sure tried a LOT harder.

Should he win, I won't hate on him whatsoever.

Yeah if I hadn't already made plans to watch with friends then I may not be buying it.

But my friends are casuals who want to see cm punk so I'm stuck with the ppv

Not in the least for me. Weight classes are in place for a reason and I get it, but missing by a pound or two (or in this case, a fraction of a pound) means absolutely jack-shit.

I watch this sudo-sport for compelling fights, and that weight difference will make exactly zero difference in the outcome.

They still fight 5 rounds, if you just watch the fights nothing has changed.

The amount of weight he missed by isn't my point. The question was, does it change your interest in the fight or change your willingness to pay $65 because Yoel is ineligible for the title and the main event will not be a true title fight? I agree that .2 isn't going to be the reason anyone wins or loses (although with the way Yoel looked after his 2nd attempt, I'd say Whittaker should be the fresher fighter - but once again not the point)

Has that been announced? Last I heard they were considering changing it to a non-title 3 round bout. If what you posted is true I'm happy to hear it will still be a 5 rounder.

VERY fair point brother.

YES.

The fact that Yoel cannot win the championship does weigh on my overall decision to spend the cheese on this one.

I will still consider him champ should he starch Bobby Knux, but yeah, this takes some momentum away.

Yeah it's been announced. I was concerned for a moment it would be a three rounder.

See that's what I'm worried about... @HIMBOB pointed out that it's still a 5 round fight and whatever happens happens, which I totally understand... But I also pay for fight pass, so this card will be available in like 6-8 weeks and I could watch it then. My problem is that when I order a PPV I GET FUCKING INTO IT! The fact that the main event doesn't have the drama of being a title shot for both men truly bothers me and will affect the way I enjoy the card. I think the fight will still be excellent, but if Yoel wins and Bobby Knucks walks out with the title that would be some lame shit to spend $65 on.

We seem to be on the same page @Arm Barbarian

Read it somewhere.

Can't offer full confirmation.

Makes no sense to change it.

I will be ordering it. This card will deliver.

Jesus... It sounds like there is a 98% chance you are a UFC employee.

But if you are. I will give you reportable stats. I buy the cards that have the top guys. Coner, GSP, Silva, Fedor,.... and I might buy a card if it has a guy like Matt Brown. I can't afford to buy every card. But I do buy about 4 a year.

I hope you aren't a gambling man because if you were putting money on me being a UFC employee you would have lost. I'm curious though, why does it sound like I'm a UFC employee? (I can't imagine an employee would call people who pay for PPV's "suckers") - I am genuinely curious if other fans are on the fence because of the main event no longer being a true title fight. Like I said previously I really get into the live events and the fact that the main event is screwed changes how much I would enjoy the card.
